Cannon Chapel Cannon Chapel was designed by internationally acclaimed architect Paul Rudolph and features furniture designed by him.. President Jimmy Carter broke ground for Cannon Chapel in 1997. It was officially consecrated on September 30, 1981. Cannon has hosted His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Arch Bishop Desmund Tutu, President Bill Clinton, and numerous acclaimed religious and academic figures and renowned performing artists. Paul Rudolph and features furniture designed by him..

President Jimmy Carter broke ground for Cannon Chapel in 1997.

It was officially consecrated on September 30, 1981.

Cannon has hosted His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Arch Bishop Desmund

Reservations and Fees

Cannon Chapel Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is reserved by the Cannon Chapel Coordinator at

[email protected].

All Other Spaces

Monday – Friday 8 AM – 5 PM Reserved by Candler Events Office at

[email protected]

After 5 PM and Weekends Reserved by the Cannon Chapel Coordinator

at [email protected].

A signed reservation agreement and deposit (if applicable) are required for an event to be

confirmed.

Non-Emory Unit Reservation Fees $50 per hour*

*Additional fees may be applied.

Artistic Expression Community Building

General Information

Security, Staging, and Care All related service needs (furniture, set

up, security, custodial, etc.) must be communicated to and scheduled by the Chapel Coordinator. The coordinator

will schedule these services. Non-compliance will result in a service fee.

Audio/Visual Audio, visual, and other media services are available upon request. Audio and visual equipment may only be operated by approved personnel. Equipment and chapel furniture may only be moved as

scheduled through the Chapel Coordinator.

Parking and Accessibility Parking is available at the Oxford,

Peavine and Fishbourne parking decks. Further information, including

information about special accessibility, can be found at

transportation.emory.edu.

Cannon Chapel Sanctuary Located on the third floor, the

Sanctuary is reserved for religious, academic, and artistic events with

approval. Various set ups are available.

Seats up to 450.

Brooks Commons Located on the second floor, Brooks Commons is reserved for lectures, meals, conferences, artistic events,

and community gatherings.

Formal Lounge Located on the second floor, the

Formal Lounge is reserved for Emory University faculty and staff events.
