Message from the Chair and the CEOWe at the Canadian Mental Health Association Halton Region Branch (CMHA-HRB) have had a rewarding and exciting year. It has been a year in which we’ve made strides in increasing awareness and support in our community.

One highlight of 2015-16 was our first ever Halton Ride Don’t Hide community bike ride for mental health awareness in Milton on June 21, 2015. What a proud moment for our community – riders, families, sponsors, and donors joined together to help fight the stigma of mental health and addictions by participating in the awareness ride. To our delight, amongst other guest dignitaries, Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor, the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, was on hand to share in our Ride Don’t Hide event.

Our staff team continues to excel by meeting the increased demand for our services. More and more people are receiving much needed support to improve their wellness and learn about mental health and addictions. We are enhancing our programs as we engage with community. Staff goes above and beyond, gaining new knowledge and skills by teaching community members about mental health awareness and ‘first aid’, providing inspiring presentations at conferences, and meeting the unique needs of each and every client in innovative ways. We truly believe in ‘mental health for all’.

Our Walk-in Counselling program continues to thrive in its second year and we are working diligently to expand this innovative service throughout our community. We were also the first mental health and addictions organization in

Mississauga Halton to be on-boarded with one-Link, a single point of access for referrals to ten addiction and mental health service providers funded by the Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network. We are proud to be a leader in promoting this coordinated, equitable access so that clients and families receive the right care - at the right time - and in the right place.

Thank you to our employees, Board, volunteers, donors, and supporters for helping us reach our goal of leading the way to a healthy and strong community. We couldn’t do it without you, and we look forward to continued opportunities to connect with and support our friends and neighbours each and every day.
