Disruptors are rendering the conventional rules of business obsolete. Consumers, armed with a mobile wand are demanding more for less. More of what matters for their families’ life and livelihood with less friction or effort. There is no middle ground, status quo or place for a brand to hide. You either make things happen by being of value, or wonder what happened by being increasingly irrelevant and relying on price as your only tiebreaker. In this keynote, Tony Chapman will share how to make things happen by drawing on examples from around the world. Learn how to shift the conversation and consideration from what you do to why you matter most to each consumer.

Meet Me at the Mall: Motivating Your Audience In a Post-Demographic World1:45 - 2:45 pm ▶ Constitution Hall, Room 106David Allison is the pioneer of Valuegraphics, the first big data tool that isolates what a target audience really wants, and what will motivate them most; and none of it has anything to do with age, gender, or other demographic stereotypes. The 75,000 surveys in the Valuegraphics Database yield profiles for people who prefer to shop in a shopping centre environment, others who don’t like it but still reluctantly go for a variety of reasons, and still others who will do whatever it takes to avoid the experience. He will compare the three categories and reveal insights to help the industry with the most motivating proposition. Just for ICSC, David has also profiled the audience for a shopping centre in Ontario, and will reveal how the profile for this specific centre differs from the industry profiles, and what the asset managers could do to improve the appeal of this particular property. Online retail is chipping away at the market share shopping centres once enjoyed, as are other alternatives to the mall experience. What can be done? How can shopping centres survive and thrive?
