University of Toronto Case Study
Beginning July 2006 the University of Toronto Campus Community Police joined forces with STOP to address the growing laptop and electronic-device theft problem.
Campus Community Police have registered approximately 6,000 electronic devices including laptops, CPUs, flat-screen monitors and televisions. To date, six have been stolen, representing a .05% loss rate (.0005), compared to 1-2% annual average.
STOP Security Plates are available at the Campus Police office, Student Union and the Koffler Bookstore.
The STOP program has attracted the attention of local media including: campus newspapers, Metro news, Globe and Mail, 24 news and more. The U of T is the first University in Canada to use the STOP program.
