Chiyogami and katazome Japanese papers are luxuriously textured and vividly colored.Chiyogami is richly layered silkscreened colors and katazome is stenciled, with a matte finish.

Texturally, they bear a remarkable resemblance to fabric and, whether in large sheets or tiny squares, their elegance is undeniable.

In the spring of 2010, we visited an exhibit atThe Metropolitan Museum of Art that captivatedme. “The Art of Illumination” featured pages fromthe illuminated manuscripts of Jean de France,Duc de Berry’s Belles Heures. The level of detail oneach hand-painted page was overwhelming.

This year’s wall-hanging calendar incorporates myown intricate vine drawings, letterpress printed inthe background, and overlaid with handwrittenmonths and days. This was a labor of love I amthrilled to share with you.
