Welcome to New Zealand’s leading Demi Au Pair programme. We place over 120 Demi Au Pairs into New Zealand families each year.

Demi Au Pairs live with a homestay family, and work for the family for up to 20 hours per week, helping with childcare and housework.

In exchange for working, families provide Demi Au Pairs with full board (bedroom and meals), a stipend of $70/ week and transport costs.

While working as a Demi Au Pair, students can study 15 or 20 hours per week, choosing from several English study options, including General English, IELTS or Cambridge Exam Preparation.

Demi Au Pair Programme Detail

The Demi Au Pair programme is available for both Working Holiday Visa & Student visa. Please note

the Visa conditions for each kind of study period:

Working Holiday Visa

15 hours per week study + 20 hours per week childcare/housework

Minimum length: 12 weeks

Maximum length: 24 weeks*

Student Visa

20 hours per week study** + 20 hours per week childcare/housework

Minimum length: 14 weeks

Maximum length: 24 weeks

* Demi work may be undertaken beyond 24 weeks upon agreement with the family, but study cannot

continue under the conditions of the Working Holiday Visa

** 15 hours of regular class + 5 hours of workshops, guided study and 1-1 lessons

2017 Entry Dates

Demi Au Pair + General English / IELTS Students studying General English or IELTS can commence their study at the beginning of any week. If starting in an organised intake they will be required to attend an Orientation week prior to the commencement of the course. Otherwise they will have a personal Orientation week requiring one morning at school. Demi Au Pair + Cambridge CAE All Demi Au pair students studying Cambridge will be required to attend an orientation week prior to the commencement of the course.

Note: Demi Au Pairs on a Student Visa who wish to take Cambridge will also be required to attend a minimum of two additional weeks of study on our General English Course to make up the 14 weeks of study required by their Visa. We also strongly advise that all CAE students attend a minimum of 2 weeks of General English classes prior to the start of the CAE course. This helps them settle into their life in Wellington and into the family, make new friends and gives them a strong base for success in their studies. During the CAE course, students may join General English classes for up to 1 week. This gives them the opportunity for a natural day-to-day interaction and offers a break from the intensive Cambridge preparation study.

Course Information:

General English

General English is an intensive course designed for students who wish to improve their English for

communication, work, or travel purposes. Classes are organised according to English level, which is

determined by our own internal testing system.

General English covers reading, writing, listening and speaking for communication and is taught at all

levels from beginner to advance

All students at Campbell can sign up for free weekly 1:1 language workshops as part of their

programme.

IELTS Exam Preparation

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) assesses the English language proficiency

of people who want to study or work where English is used as the language of communication. This

course prepares you to sit the IELTS exam – Academic or General modules.

This course achieves a balance of language development and exam preparation, both of which are

necessary for achieving a good IELTS result.

Students have access to a large range of exam practice materials, and every week students can sit a

practice exam, under exam conditions. In addition, every student has the opportunity for a practice

speaking interview with a trained interviewer at no extra cost.

There are two IELTS test centres in Wellington: Victoria University of Wellington and Massey

University.

Cambridge CAE – Examination Preparation Course

Campbell’s Cambridge Preparation course prepares students for sitting the Cambridge Advanced

Certificate (CAE).

The course achieves a balance of language development and exam preparation, both of which are

necessary for achieving good results.

Cambridge teachers receive additional training to prepare students for the exam. Students have

access to a large range of exam practice materials, and every week students can sit a practice exam,

under exam conditions.

While this course requires high levels of participation and hard work from the students, it is

designed to fit around their work in the family and offers high levels of flexibility around the

workload. The CAE course is designed to help students achieve the best results possible.

The Cambridge preparation course runs for 12 weeks and at certain times in the year to coincide

with the examinations.

* Please note that the Cambridge Course is only available in Wellington.

Note:

The English ability of each Demi Au Pair will be assessed upon arrival. Any tests that students

complete prior to their arrival are designed to give an indication of the students’ level and do not

guarantee entry into the CAE course. If the student’s level is lower than that of the entry

requirements of their chosen course, the Demi Au Pair will be enrolled in another programme of

their choice.

Further Notes

1. Demi Au Pairs who arrive during the middle of the week will begin their study on the following Monday. Campbell recommends that the Demi Au Pair checks-in with their Host Family one week before the course starts.

2. When booking the return flight, Demi Au Pairs need to allow time for exams in case they are

scheduled to take place after the course of study finishes. The exam dates are subject to change, and are administered by external organizations. Campbell cannot be held liable for any costs incurred due to changes of exam dates.

Enrolment Procedure

The following information is required in English to complete your application for the Demi Au Pair

programme (Electronic or scanned copies of documents are sufficient):

Completed application form 1 clear photo of applicant 2 childcare references (not from family members and must be authenticated by the agent) Police report or criminal background check Personal letter of introduction to the Demi Au Pair’s new host family Medical certificate (stating that the Demi Au Pair is both physically and mentally healthy) Completed English language Pre-Test (see Pre-Test Section) A photo collage where the applicant is seen with their own family and any children they

have been looking after Curriculum Vitae / Resume in English

1. Once the above items are received, Campbell will assess the application, and if successful, issue an “Offer of Place”, a “Student Invoice” and “Agent Invoice” for the total cost of the chosen programme.

2. In the event the intake is full, students may be placed on a wait list until a family is confirmed, then you will receive the “Offer of Place”, a “Student Invoice” and “Agent Invoice” for the total cost of the chosen programme.

3. Payment of fees must be received at least 1 month prior to applicant’s arrival date.

4. Campbell will send the details of the host family to the agent. The Demi Au Pair and the family should make contact with each other before arrival in New Zealand. Various options are available – Skype has been very successful so far.

5. The Demi must read and sign the Demi Au pair Agreement form.

Important Note:

Demi Au Pairs should not confirm travel arrangements until family placement has been made.

Withdrawal and Refund Policy

1. Withdrawal and refund policies apply to this programme (refer to the Application Form) or

www.demiaupair.co.nz 2. There is no refund of an external exam fee if the Demi Au Pair cancels their exam less than 5

weeks prior to the exam date 3. Demi Au Pairs that choose to leave the program will pay for their own Accommodation as

per the agreement form
