With miles of trails, forests, and over a dozen lakes to explore Camp Wilderness is an outdoor classroom like no other. In 2021 we will provide campers a structured program along with days for adventure and fun. This summer, merit badges will be scheduled in either two hour or four hour time blocks. Campers can take advantage of free time to work on additional merit badges, participate in troop activities, or enjoy open program time.

Camp Wilderness 2021 Programs

Climbing TowerOur 35 foot climbing tower has multiple routes and difficulty levels to keep everyone learning. Scouts that are 13 and older can try to earn the Climbing Merit Badge! Open climbs are available for all ages throughout the week, along with times set aside for troop climbs.

TrailblazersTrailblazers is our amazing program for new scouts. It is the perfect balance of individualized attention and personal freedom. Trailblazers will teach skills from the Scout rank all the way to First Class. They will complete a 5-mile hike to learn more about the outdoors.

AquaticsCamp Wilderness is located on the clear

waters of Bad Axe Lake. It is the ideal place for swimming, sailing, kayaking, canoing, snorkeling, and paddle-boarding. During open times, scouts can enjoy a swim with friends, boating on a lake,

or taking a bounce on our water trampoline.

Shooting SportsScouts can earn merit badges in Archery, Rifle,

and Shotgun. Our archery range is fitted for scouts to learn with compound bows. Our rifle range utilizes .22 rifles and we have 20-gauge shotguns at the shotgun range. We also offer

troop shoots as an activity!

ScoutcraftThe Scoutcraft Area offers exciting outdoor skills

learning opportunities. From knives, saws, and axes to knots and lashings this area has a lot to

offer. Scouts can try their hand at blacksmithing skills with our metalworking and forge areas.

There is also a tomahawk throwing range!

Fishing AreaScouts have the opportunity to earn the Fishing,

Fly Fishing, and Motorboating merit badges. Our fishing pier is the perfect spot to catch

sunfish, crappie, and small and large mouth bass. Pontoons are available for troops to take out for

fishing or just a cruise around Bad Axe Lake.

COPEScouts 13+ can take part in COPE. Scouts will learn communication, planning, trust, teamwork, leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, bravery, and self-esteem through a variety of field games and obstacles.

Nature CenterOur nature center is the perfect place to learn

about the outdoors. Scouts can explore camp on nature hikes and earn merit badges. The nature

lodge porch is great place to enjoy a cup of tea.

PumphouseThe Pumphouse is a great area for scouts to learn indoors. Scouts can also earn their cyberchip. Scouts can earn merit badges such as Journalism, Communications, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World and more!
