Respect. Excellence. Acceptance. Community. Honesty. Dear Parents and Families: WOW the cold weather has hit us hard over the past couple of days and we are expecting more. Hopefully this will pass in time for camp. Mrs. Blunt already has her winter woollies ready to take with her so make sure you are all prepared to keep nice and warm. Our campers are going to have so much fun no matter what the weather is; I am looking forward to hearing all the stories. BIG NEWS: Finally, our money has been allocated in the new budget that was announced this week. $3.8 Million for our building upgrade and we are all very excited. In preparation, we will be working with the building Authority over the next 12 month in planning and designing our building with works aimed at starting in September 2020. This is a huge investment into our school by the government and we aim to make sure the very best is built for our students. PARKING: Please be mindful when parking around the school during drop off and pick up as we have had some complaints of cars being parked over driveways and our neighbours not being able to move in or out of their homes. HEAD LICE: We have had a few cases of head lice reported in the school, could you all please check your childrens hair and treat as necessary. EDUCATION WEEK: What a week we had last week!!!!!!!! Congratulations to our staff under the guidance of Mrs. Touma for a wonderful Education Week. It was a full program as always, which started with a bang at assembly with all of our performances and the first performance of the ANPS Dance Crew. Then on to: Classroom visits Organisation of the garden wall being re planted Science Night - How amazing were the experiments and so much fun. A performance by our new choir and our new Instrumental Band, which were awesome. Our pyjama day which raised $214 for the Royal Flying Doctors Service who just happened to be visiting our school WITH their plane (minus the wings of course). What a great program and we learnt so much from the educators who brought the plane to our school. We feel very privileged as only four schools in Victoria are chosen to have the Flying Doctor Program visit with the plane and ANPS was one of these lucky schools. READING IN MAY: How is your reading in May going? Make sure you practice your reading each night and dont forget to count mum and dads reading times as well. Finishes this Friday so get reading. EARN AND LEARN: Please remember to collect any Earn and Learn stickers from Woolworths if you shop there or if you know someone who does we would love as many as we can get. The more we get the more fun items we can get for our school. PARENTS AND FRIENDS: We have had many parents helping with our Parents and Friends Association but many have now moved on with the children going onto secondary school and now we are looking for people to come and join our Parents and Friends groups. It does not have to be a commitment that you attend every week and run all the activities. If we have enough people, we can share this around to take the burden off one person. I know many parents work so these meeting dont have to be during school hours you may choose to meet in the evening, this would depend on the group. Working in cooperation with the Principal and School Council, the Parents and Friends aims and objectives are to: ¨ contribute to the wellbeing of the school community ¨ encourage the participation of all parents in the life of the school and the education of their children ¨ provide opportunities for parents to get to know each other and to be informed about their child s school ¨ provide opportunities for parents to extend their understanding of school operations, and general education policy ¨ raise funds for the benefit of the school Please think seriously about what you could do to contribute and feel free to talk to me about participating. WHOOO HOOO- 45 YEARS- AN OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT

Congratulations to Mrs Gregson for an outstanding achievement of 45 years in the teaching service. What a wonderful effort. Throughout the 45 years, Mrs Gregson’s enthusiasm and dedication to ensuring that all children are provided with the highest quality experiences while under her care, has never waned. Her belief that every child deserves the best is evident through her passion and energy that she displays every day at our school. A BIG THANK-YOU AND CONGRATULATIONS from all our current children, their families, staff & school community, as well as the children, families and colleagues you have supported and worked with in the past. We look forward to your continued leadership, support and your smile that you provide to everyone that comes through our front door every day. Mrs Lee Blunt - On behalf of the whole ANPS School Community. Assistant Principal

HISTORY BOX INCURSION ‘THEN AND NOW’

The girls wore long pants called pantaloons and a bonnet on their heads. (Sabreen) We played Nakka Nakka. You need 5 bones. You throw them up and then you flip your hand to see how many you can catch. (Koby) We played with a yoyo and girls wore dresses with no school logo. (Ali Z) Students had to pay the teacher in pennies and boys did woodwork. (Ahmad B) Girls wore an apron over their dress (pinafore) to keep it clean. They only have one dress.

(Jacob B)

On Family Science Night the Instrumental group had their first live performance. I am so proud of the dedication and efforts of all of the students. A number of students had never played their instrument prior to this year and did a fantastic job. The Instrumental group cannot wait to perform again soon.
