Summer has arrived full force in Hampton Roads! This is the best time of year to check out local concerts, festivals, and beach events; there is something for everyone! Whether the beach is your thing or you prefer the fast excitement of roller coasters, Hampton Roads is full of things to do. As the saying goes, “bloom where you are planted.”Later in the month, check out MCFTB's newest course offering, “Before I Do.” This class is specifically designed for couples that are engaged or have been married less than two years. Start your marriage off on the right foot by learning about some of the common stumbling blocks and strategies for overcoming them. The inaugural class will take place on Friday, July 29th from 8 am -3:30 pm in the MCCS Admin building (behind the MCX). For more information, contact MCFTB at 757-445-6875.

Emergency PreparednessHurricane season is upon us and here in Hampton Roads it is wise to be prepared for any kind of upcoming storm. This list of websites contains good information to help prepare for any emergency regardless of the time of year. 1. The regional Special Needs Registry has been discontinued due to HIPAA issues. Some of the local jurisdictions/cities are still continuing to operate their own registries to plan for emergencies and/or maintain contact with the individuals in their area. Norfolk and Chesapeake will both be maintaining their registrants. Hampton will be keeping their registrants, but doesn't know in what capacity, and Portsmouth is currently unsure which way they will go. If a family has concerns about their particular city, please contact the jurisdiction emergency management planners to discuss the specific need(s).

Outdoor Equipment All equipment will be available on a first come - first serve basis. Equipment cannot be reserved in advance. All equipment must be returned in the same condition as received. Full replacement cost will be charged on equipment that is lost or damaged beyond normal wear and tear. Late fees will be charged per item for each day that the equipment is late. Responsibility for the equipment cannot be delegated to another person, i.e., the person that signs for the equipment is ultimately responsible for all fees. Command function requests are processed through the MCCS Coordinator at 445-6875.

Outdoor Recreation

As a reminder Outdoor Recreation is always closed on weekends.

Please make arrangements to pick up or return items during normal business

operations.
