Te winter can be slow orisitation at Camp Floyd, but were hard at work planning or thepring and summer. Tis winter

we are ocusing on collections, newrograms, grants, and exhibits.

Camp Floyd has over about 140oxes o aunal remains rom thercheological digs at Camp Floydn the 80s and 90s. Tese are

mostly cow bones, but also includehe remains o birds and othermall mammals. Trough studyinghese remains, archeologists canetermine not only what theoldiers ate at Camp Floyd, butow the animals were butchered.

reviously, these boxes weretored at the Utah State Parksorth region office. Some wereven stored in garbage bags. Camployd received money rom thetate to rehouse these items intooxes and we moved them toort Douglas Military Museums

repository. Fort Douglas alreadyhouses Camp Floyds archeologicalcollection and now all the materialsare together in one place. Our hopeis to attract a graduate researchstudent to do zooarchologicalresearch on the aunal remains tolearn more about Camp Floyd.

We recently completed an exhibiton Capitan racys sketches.racy was an excellent artist andsketched many scenes on hisway to and at Camp Floyd. Lastyear, we ound the approximantlocation o our o his sketches andtook photographs. Each sketch ispaired with a photo o the sameview in present day. Looking at thesame areas then and now, you cansee the same mountains and small

changes in the landscape overtime.Come see the new exhibit at CampFloyd!

I you have any questions orconcerns, please contact me [email protected] or (801)768-8932.
