Soon after finishing the construction of his Ping Pong Launcher for an Engineering Challenge, 2nd grader Yahir overheard the other youth in his club become discouraged by their designs. Eager to help, Yahir approached the group and calmly explained how each of the parts worked and then took apart his entire catapult to show the others his design. Each of the children went back to their designs and made modifications. By the end of club each of the girls and boys were successfully launching ping pongs the length of the activity room! Yahirs leadership in that moment highlighted to me that each child has chance to have a positive impact and to share their talents with the world.YOUTH LEADERSHIP Programming for older youth focused on a variety of advocacy topics including social justice, mentoring younger youth, and career exploration. Emily has been in Camp Fire since 2nd grade. Shes now an eighth grader beginning work on her Wohelo Award, the highest award a Camp Fire youth member can earn. As a member of Camp Fires Teens in Action for multiple years, she plans and implements Camp Fire club meetings for younger Camp Fire members. The change Ive seen in her over the years is indescribable. She has transformed from a quiet, shy young girl into a mature, well-spoken leader admired by all. This past summer, she attended summer camp for the first time, and served as a mentor and role model for others in her cabin, displaying the leadership skills she has gained in Camp Fire over the last six years. Emily manages her own honey business, with the help of her father, and looks forward to earning her Wohelo Award in a couple of years.CAMP & OUTDOOR Events ranging from a few hours to a full week, held at one of three Camp Fire camps, including Camp Fires annual Spring Campout, Celebrate Camp Fire, and three separate weeks of summer residential camp. Katie began her week at camp excited but very nervous. She arrived at the archery range completely sure she wouldnt be able to hit the target. Her first attempt went too high and her second attempt went too far to the left. She started to tear up but agreed to shoot the rest of her arrows. Loading her third arrow, she mumbled Im never going to hit the target.I reminded her that hitting the target wasnt important since she was just learning. I complimented her form and how hard she was trying then told her to take a deep breath before shooting. The arrow struck with a *THWACK!* and we both let out a shout heard across the meadow at the dock! She was so excited and with that experience, her confidence was boosted for the rest of the week.

CLUB & SMALL GROUP PROGRAMMING In-school and out-of-school programming for youth in Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade, usually meeting weekly during the school year. “Soon after finishing the construction of his Ping Pong Launcher for an Engineering Challenge, 2nd grader Yahir overheard the other youth in his club become discouraged by their designs. YOUTH LEADERSHIP Programming for older youth focused on a variety of advocacy topics including social justice, mentoring younger youth, and career exploration. “Emily has been in Camp Fire since 2nd grade.
