For Horse Campers:Parents/guardians and campers need

to choose the horse program that isappropriate for the camper's ridingexperience. See program descriptionsfor details. Once at camp, trained rid-ing instructors evaluate every horsecamper, and place her in the appropri-ate riding group at the beginning ofthe session. The evaluation is based onriding skills and experience, horseman-ship knowledge, and comfort levelaround horses.

Campers attend equestrian classes, and barn and riding instruction clin-ics. Each program has a specific timeeach day for equestrian instruction, however, not all of this time is spenton horseback riding. The schedule isalways subject to weather or unex-pected developments.

Campers are placed at a ridinglevel that refreshes and increases theirskills. If friends are evaluated at dif-ferent horsemanship levels, they maybe in different riding groups.Elementary, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced sessions are offeredthroughout the summer. In accor-dance with Girl Scout Safety-Wiseguidelines, proper riding boots arerequired for all horse program ses-sions. Shopping at thrift stores andgarage sales can help cut the cost.
