Pastor: In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit!y Congregation: Amen! Matthew 28:19

The Lord be with you! Ruth 2:4

y And also with you!

I will bless the Lord at all times; y His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; y The humble shall hear of it, and be glad.

Oh, magnify the Lord with me, y And let us exalt His name together! Psalm 34:1-3

“Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:14–16

Beloved, our Lord has invited us to draw near to him with an honest heart. He has graciously promised to receive all those who come to him with heavy burdens of guilt and shame. Therefore I exhort all who are here today to accompany me with a pure heart and a humble voice, unto the throne of heavenly grace.

y I confess to Almighty God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and before all the company of heaven, that I have sinned, in thought, word and deed, through my fault, my own fault, my own most grievous fault; where-fore, I pray Almighty God to have mercy upon me, to forgive all my sins, and to make clean my heart. For I pray in the Father’s love, pleading the shed blood of Christ His Son, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

“For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” Hebrews 9:13–14

Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for your sins and to be raised for your justification; and for His sake forgives you all your sins. This I declare in the name and authority of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. y Amen

P A S T O R S P E A K SIt is truly proper, right, wholesome, and beneficial that we should at all times, and in all places, give praise unto Thee, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God. Who on the Tree of the Cross gave salvation unto mankind; that the one who once overcame by a tree, might likewise by a Tree be overcome, through Christ our Lord. Therefore, with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify Thy glorious Name; evermore worshipping Thee!

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, y Any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and

sympathy,

Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.

y Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

y Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,

Who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,

y But emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant,

Being born in the likeness of men. y And being found in human form, he humbled himself

By becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. y Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name

that is above every name,

So that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

y And every tongue confess

y ALL: That Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

ISAIAH 14:3–23

English Standard Version (ESV)

When the Lord has given you rest from your pain and turmoil and the

hard service with which you were made to serve, you will take up this

taunt against the king of Babylon:

“How the oppressor has ceased, the insolent fury ceased! The Lord

has broken the staff of the wicked, the scepter of rulers, that struck

the peoples in wrath with unceasing blows, that ruled the nations in

anger with unrelenting persecution. The whole earth is at rest and

quiet; they break forth into singing. The cypresses rejoice at you, the

cedars of Lebanon, saying, ‘Since you were laid low, no woodcutter

comes up against us.’ Sheol beneath is stirred up to meet you when

you come; it rouses the shades to greet you, all who were leaders

of the earth; it raises from their thrones all who were kings of the

nations. All of them will answer and say to you: ‘You too have become

as weak as we! You have become like us!’ Your pomp is brought down

to Sheol, the sound of your harps; maggots are laid as a bed beneath

you, and worms are your covers.

“How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you

are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! You said

in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will

set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far

reaches of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;

I will make myself like the Most High.’ But you are brought down to

Sheol, to the far reaches of the pit. Those who see you will stare at you

and ponder over you: ‘Is this the man who made the earth tremble,

who shook kingdoms, who made the world like a desert and over-

threw its cities, who did not let his prisoners go home?’ All the kings

of the nations lie in glory, each in his own tomb; but you are cast out,

away from your grave, like a loathed branch, clothed with the slain,

those pierced by the sword, who go down to the stones of the pit, like

a dead body trampled underfoot. You will not be joined with them

in burial, because you have destroyed your land, you have slain your

people.

“May the offspring of evildoers nevermore be named! Prepare

slaughter for his sons because of the guilt of their fathers, lest they

rise and possess the earth, and fill the face of the world with cities.”

“I will rise up against them,” declares the Lord of hosts, “and will cut

off from Babylon name and remnant, descendants and posterity,”

declares the Lord. “And I will make it a possession of the hedgehog,

and pools of water, and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction,”

declares the Lord of hosts.

y Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. Matthew 6:9–13

Congregation of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord has prepared His table for all who love and trust in Him for their salvation. All those who have repented of their sins, have been baptized and are in good standing in the Church of Jesus Christ are welcome at this table. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.

Leader: Christian, in Whom do you believe?

y I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suff ered under Pontius Pilate, was crucifi ed, dead, and buried; He descended into hades; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy, catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. The Apostle’s Creed
