MAKE-A-WISH FUNDRAISERS CONTINUE.....SEE WHAT COMES NEXT

Along with the monthly Parents Night Out events you will have

two more opportunities to help us reach our Make-A-Wish

Fundraiser Goal of $2,500. We will be doing two final activities

to help raise money. The first activity is a pie throwing contest

and the second activity is a flashmob. We will do both of these

during the last week of school.

Starting Monday. May 5th - Friday, May 16th we will be collect-

ing money by the fish tank for the pie throwing contest. Each

grade level will have

three buckets in which

to donate. Here is how

the pie throwing contest

will work:

To contribute to

Make-A-Wish, you can

put any amount of money

in bucket #1.

For a CHANCE to throw a

pie at a classmate and do-

nate to Make-A-Wish, put $5.00 in bucket #2 and write your

name on a ticket. You can fill out a chance ticket for each $5

donated.

For a CHANCE to have a pie thrown at you and donate to

Make-A-Wish, put $10.00 in bucket #3 and write your name

on a ticket. You can fill out a chance ticket for each $10 do-

nated.

The second activity we will do is a total school flashmob. But,

only if we meet our goal of $2,500. This will take place at the

check presentation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation on June

6th. Students will practice the flashmob on the morning news

show and at the beginning of P.E. class.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS

The SAC students and teachers wish to thank the PTA and all of the students and

staff at HES for a wonderful Special Olympics event! We enjoyed visiting all of the

classrooms and were proud to wear the t-shirts you made for us at the Special Olym-

pics Parade. We also loved all of the posters and words of encouragement! Thank you,

HES!

SUPPLY PACKS Again this year, HES will be using the convenient services of

Staples Schoolkidz, Inc. and their teacher tailored Back-to-

School supply kit program. Why fight long lines trying to find

every requested item on your child's school supply list? All of

the shopping is done for you! Staples Schoolkidz, Inc. offers

brand name items chosen by the teachers and is exactly what is

on your child's supply list. This program will save you time,

making your back-to-school shopping less hectic.

All kits will be delivered to your child's classroom before Meet

the Teacher Night in the fall.

You should receive an order

form in your child's Thursday

folder. For your convenience,

you may also order online at

www.shopttkits.com using

account # 4917. Please be

sure to place your order by the due date on May 23rd. Contact

Jackie Benjamin at [email protected] or

704-609-6605 with any questions.

We need you at the welcome desk! Traffic is heavy at HES this time of year and a friendly volunteer at

the Welcome Desk would be a big help in monitoring the traffic flow. Having a friendly, warm face to

greet everyone as they enter the school helps us maintain our strong sense of family at our

school. There is no experience necessary. Any amount of time you could give between 9:30-2:00 each

day would be appreciated. Please contact Christine Casey at [email protected] or you can sign

up directly at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0D4FAFAF229-aprilmay .

WELCOME DESK NEEDS YOU

The final Make-A-Wish Parent Night at HES is this Friday, May 2nd from 5:30-8:30pm. Once

again, the fee is $25 for the first child and $10 for each additional child. See the registra-

tion form on the last page of the newsletter to reserve a spot NOW!

There was a steady flow of smiling faces through the door at

Frye’s Roller Rink on Sunday, April 6th where approximately 100

participants attended the annual HES Mother/Son Day Out.

While walking through the rink you could see HES mothers and

sons taking advantage of the arcade and snack counter, while

others appeared to have tons of energy and skated non-

stop. Almost everyone from HES was still inside even after

4:00pm. The PTA would like to thank Frye’s Roller Rink for

agreeing to host the outing, but the

big Thank You goes out to the HES

Moms and their sons for making this

event such a huge success.

Beginner’s Night was a success this year! There was a good turn-out of rising kindergartners in attendance with their interested

parents. While parents were informed about kindergarten at Huntersville Elementary, the children were visiting classes, meet-

ing teachers, making adorable hats, and eating delicious snacks prepared by our cafeteria staff. They then danced on stage for

the parents, making it a wonderful celebration for our Huntersville School Beginner’s Night Kick Off! What a wonderful year we

are going to have starting in August of 2014 in the Kindergarten classrooms at HES! Thank you to all who participated in making

this night the most successful Beginners’ Night imaginable! See you in August in Kindergarten!
