Looking for the jazz experience of a lifetime?

Jeunesses Musicales International together with Jeunesses Musicales Norway invite you to join the 2014 edition of the JM Jazz World Orchestra. This time we’re going to Norway and musicians can look forward to one week of good jazzy fun together with top young international jazz musicians before performing at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival which this year headlines stars like Chick Corea,

Joshua Redman and Dave Holland.

Under the musical leadership of Erlend Skomsvoll, 16 young jazz musicians will form the 2014 orchestra. Skomsvoll is a Norwegian jazz musician, band leader, composer, producer and arranger. He is internationally acclaimed for his

big band collaborations with Chick Corea, Pat Metheny and many others.

The JM Jazz World Orchestra are looking for talented musicians between the ages of 18 to 26.

We are looking for the following instrumentation: Saxophones, trombones, trumpets, horns, tuba, guitar, bass, drums, piano and vocals. It is favourable if you read sheet music, but the

most important thing is your love for playing jazz music.

The plan is to meet in Kongsberg on June 27, socialize, play and work together to create the best young big band the world has ever seen.

July 3 is the big day at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival, where the orchestra performs at the Young Talent stage. There will also be a gig at another venue in Kongsberg

as well as plenty of time to enjoy the festival. More plans coming soon!

Applications must include

• Your Musical CV • Copy of your ID (passport or similar) • Recommendation from a music teacher or similar• Audio material: Digital video files (avi, mov, flv, mp4 format) of at least 2 different

pieces in which the candidate plays a theme and an improvisation. The candidates need to be clearly heard, with an important soloist part.

As complementary material (but not as a replacement) links to websites, where audio & video can be downloaded, can be added. The video material must clearly mark the name of the candidate, the part of their musical performance and title. • You will find your application form on www.jmjazzworld.com

A professional international jury will select the best candidates for a 2nd Audition Round. Candidates who make it to the 2nd Round may be asked to present more video material. The jury will make their final decision by May 5. All candidates

will be notified about the results of this selection shortly afterwards.

ConditionsDuring your stay, all accommodation and material needs are provided by JM Norway. JM Norway provides transportation to and from Oslo Airport. Transportation to and from Norway must be covered by the participant but may

be sponsored by your national JMI member or other local organizations. JM Norway will help facilitate this. Your English needs to be good as all

workshops will be in English.Remember to insure your instrument!
