Mama: Yes, I want something. I want a child for my son. Youve been

married for five years today. Youre all set to go out and enjoy

Michelle: (looks angry, but physically forces herself to breath slowly to

    calm down)

Because today is my wedding anniversary and you are my

husbands mother, I will pretend that I didnt hear you.

Mama: (mimicking Michelle) because today is my wedding anniversaryand you are my husbands mother So you know

picks up a book and pastes a silly smile on her face.)

Oh, this is from M to M. I will always love you.

Michelle: Mama, thats enough! You know, if I wasnt brought up

to respect African values, I would have done a very terrible

thing to you now. Why are you trying so hard to ruin our lives?

As you proudly remember, you are a mother. Would you like

your daughter to be treated the way you are treating me?

Mama: Hey, Hey, Stop there. Who are you to mention my daughter?

Can you not see that she has four children? She is not sapping

    her husband dry.

Michelle: You need to remember that this is my home. I believe you

    have outstayed your welcome.

Mama: Say that again. I say, say that again. You barren woman!

(Before Mitchell could retort, the door opens and Mike comesin from work.

(Mama hisses and goes off to her room. He goes to hold his

    wife)

Mike: I know .. I heard her as I was coming in.

    Michelle: (gives a little smile)

Mike: Thats better. I will speak to Mama. Okay?

Cat: Same old story ..I mustnt forget that Im a bastard and that

    to die.

  • 8/6/2019 Call me,me by Elizabeth Abraham

Vera: That isnt necessary just trust me.

I think we shall be good for each other.

Tony: (gives her a peck on the cheek) I think so, too.

my fault that they called me bastard till I was afraid to go to

school. It was my fault that the neighbours constantly

    whispered and pointed fingers.

Vera: We moved here for you, you ingrate. What do you want?

Must I kill myself for you to appreciate all I do for you?

Cat: So we moved here and taunts stopped from outsiders but YOU

TOOK OVER! I ruined your future. No man wants to marry

a woman with a teenaged child. You bastard!. Maybe I

should just end this misery for the two of us. Youve never

wanted me and I dont want a mother who does not love me.

Vera: If I didnt want you, I would have aborted you, Miss Insolence.

Cat: I wish you had. But I can still end it.

Vera: (uneasy) Youd better stop talking rot. Theres nothing wrong

    with your life.

Cat: How would you know? You were not born a bastard.

Vera: Look, I only call you that when you anger me beyond reason.

    Cat: (doesnt talk)

Vera: Look, lets stop all this. Come and eat something.

    Cat: Im not hungry.

Vera: (looks at her with pity) Okay, but dont leave it for long. (She

doesnt even give a response to my greetings. Its a hard way

    to live.

Mike: I had a talk with her. Has she been calling you names again?

Michelle: No, but she does other things just as nasty. Ive told you she

doesnt give any response to my greetings.

Mike: Dont let it bother you.

Michelle: She hisses when I go by.

    Mike: Ignore it.

Michelle: Yesterday, she ignored the lunch I made and ate bread and

    sardine instead.

Mike: Maybe she felt like it.

Michelle: After looking and hissing at me and my food?

Mike: Look darling, Mama is old and shes my mother. What do you

want me to do, drive her out?

Michelle: All Im saying is that the atmosphere shes creating in our

home is unhealthy and must not be prolonged.

    Mike: Shes my mother.

Michelle: And Im your wife and this is my home.

Mike: And I pay the bills. Dont forget that. (He picks up his suitcase

    Scene 6

    Characters

    Michelle

Yemisi (Micheles best friend] a lawyer, an attractive woman in her thirties.

    Michelle is on the phone.

Michelle: So we meet at that pastry place at 12?

Michelle: Right. Thank you. You are a real friend, Yemisi.Michelle: (smiling) Well, okay. See you. (Closes the phone)

Yemisi driving to the pastry shop. Parks and goes in. Michelle

    is already waiting. They hug.

Yemisi: So, tell me all about it.

Michelle: In a moment. Lets place our orders first. I was too upset to

    eat breakfast.

(She signals the waiter to come.)(Yemisi takes Michelles hand in sympathy).

    (Waiter appears)

Michelle: One cheese cake and a cappuccino.

    (Waiter turns to Yemisi)

    9

    Yemisi: Same here.

    (Waiter moves off

    Yemisi looks expectantly at Michelle.)

Michelle: I went to the market. When I came back there was a strange

girl in my kitchen watching over something cooking. When I

asked her who she was and what she was doing in my kitchen,

she said, I be you w and Mama spoke from the doorway that

the girl was there to help her. sShes an old woman and needs

care. The girl will cook her village meals and see to all her

    needs.

(She stops to eat and drink. Yemisi does the same).

Michelle: You know, I could have sworn that that girl meant to say, I be

your wife. But that wouldnt make sense, would it?

Yemisi: It would. But who brought the girl?

Michelle: Mike said Mama must have made the arrangement by phone

and a cousin dropped the girl off.

Yemisi: So that was it? The scene in the kitchen and you took her in?

Michelle: It wasnt up to me, was it? I called Mike immediately wanting

to know why I wasnt informed? Guess what? He didnt

know what I was talking about. When I explained he acted as

surprised as I was. Only God knows which is which.

(A pause. They keep eating and drinking albeit thoughtfully.)

Yemisi: Michelle, you know I love you, dont you?

    Michelle: (nods)

Yemisi: What Im about to say is borne out of love, but, of course, you

dont have to agree to itIt sounds to me like your

    10

mother-in-law has married another wife for Mike. (Michelle is

startled. Yemisi gives a sad Laugh).

Yemisi: Now, I have shocked you but its something we must consider.

Michelle: Would Mike ..(choking and beginning to cry) would he do

    that to me?

.No. (she lifts a hand to stop Yemisi) Dont bother explaining.

I know she can. He cannot find a fault in his mum as horrible

as shes been to me. (She wipes her eyes after a while).

Michelle: Its all because Im barren.

Yemisi: Stop that! You are not barren. Your children havent started

    coming. Thats all.

Michelle: (sneering) Tell that to my mother-in-law.

Yemisi: Why do you make her so important? Youd rather believe her

than the doctors, your husband and best friend. Why choose

the word of someone who hates you over those who love you?And another thing,Michelle,. its very important that you

stop defining yourself by what your in-laws call you.

  • 8/6/2019 Call me,me by Elizabeth Abraham

    15/83

Michelle: Yes, thanks. But what am I to do now? Mike is completely

with the Mother. (laughs bitterly) Says its actually a good

thing for me since I wont have to deal with his mum anymore.

Yemisi: Listen Michelle. (She glances at her watch) My lunch hour is

nearly over. So, listen carefully. .. This is no time for

self-pity. You know and I know that you are strong. You can

handle this . You must begin to plan for a possible future

    without Mike.

Michelle: (shocked) But you preach against divorce.

Yemisi: Yes, but you and Mike are only nominal Christians. You

havent what it takes to stop a divorce happening. And Im not

saying its going to happen. Its just good to be prepared.

Yemisi: You must begin to save all you can. two, no matter what

    11

happens refuse to divorce him. Even if he moves out dont

divorce him. Three, stay in your house no matter what. The

house is in both your names, not so?

Michelle: (nods)Yemisi: Dont sell your half of the house. You must make them all see

that you are aware of your rights. At the end of the day if the

worst happens, you lose Mike but wont be destitute.

Michelle: (starts to cry silently) This seems so unreal and yet things have

greatly changed in my house. (She keeps crying, Yemisi holds

her hand. In a little while, she glances at her watch).

Yemisi: Have got to go, dear.

Michelle: (pulls herself together) I know, Me too.

    Yemisi: Will you be alright?

Michelle: Yes. (then in a stronger voice) Yes, I will.

(They hug. Yemisi leaves. Michelle settles the bill and leaves).

    Vera: Miss.

Michelle: Oh. What can I say? Is there a chance of reconciliation

    between you and Cat?

Vera: Yes ,but not now. To be truthful Im enjoying this time

on my own. Ive always had Catherine with me. Now

Im enjoying being truly single. But shes my daughter

Michelle: I know. Shes probably laughing at me for not knowing

    that shes Mikes second wife.

Cat: (the nail polish drops from her hands, shes so shocked)

Michelle: Well..you see. Im barren as mother-in-law keeps

Michelle: (nodding) I dont disbelieve, dear. Its just that it doesnt

take the pain of childlessness away. Every month I

think,s maybe. Then my period comes and I just want to

    die.

Cat: I know that pain. Ive had it all my life. The bastard has

no sense of belonging. People forget that you are as

human as they are. Its a useless life.

Michelle: And yet, you are a most beautiful, sensitive person. You

must drop that way of thinking and see yourself as you

    truly are.

Cat: Nothing much I met a very nice boy. Hes a good

listener and cares very much about people.

Vera: You told him about me. (Not a question)

    Cat: Yes.

    Vera: And?

Cat: He thinks we misunderstand each other. He grew up in an

orphanage. But we have a lot in common. He understands

    me.

Vera: Oh! . You know, Ive done a lot of thinking since you left.

And .I came to the same conclusion as your friends. Whats

Cat: He was born with only one arm.

Vera: And grew up in an orphanage..His parents died?

    Cat: No, they abandoned him.

Vera: My God . Poor boy . Poor thing.

Cat: You still want to meet him?

Vera: Of course Catherine, things you see on the outside dont

count much. Its what the person is inside that counts. Come

with your friend and spend the day with me.

    Cat: Mama A.

Chris: Right . And I get to wondering just what is going tohappen how long its going to be for? I mean, youve

Cat: (takes his hand) I know. Ive been thinking .what kind ofjob do you want?

Chris: (gives a bitter laugh) Beggars dont get to choose ..anything

would do. But Ive never been given the chance. Acceptance

    is based on looks.

Cat: Would you mind cleaning the yard for Michelle? Shes sacked

her gardener and is looking for a replacement.

    Chris: Would she have me?

Cat: I think so. But, do you mind the job?

    Chris: Do you?

Cat: (surprised) No. Theres a great deal of dignity in decent labour.

My mom drummed that into me .. She had to do all sorts of

    things to make ends meet.

    Chris: Nice lady, your mom.

    Cat: (smiles) I agree.

Chris: So, if a guy has decent labour and looks forward to bettering

himself, do you think the girl he likes would stick around him?

Cat: (smiling) I think so . Thats if he tells her where he lives?

Chris: (stands up) You know where I live.

    Chris: Are you disgusted?

Cat: No, no ..I cry for you, for me, Mama A, Michelle, my

mother. Perfectly fine human beings made imperfect by the

world we live in. I mean, you and I had nothing to do with our

births. But we were made to pay. We bore the stigma of not

satisfying societal codes. Why is man so wicked to man?

    them into the water)

Cat: What do you use for bathroom?

Chris: Sneak into a hotels bathroom and be real quick.

Cat: What about your clothes? You are always neat.

surprise of your life ..all of you.

Mama: Who are you calling a witch?

Mike: Michelle, please, I can explain.

Michelle: Explain what? That you took you mothers maid to

where exactly did you do this thing, Mike? (raising her voice)

Where? In our bed? Mike in our bed? You couldnt use your

mothers? She would have agreed gladly. .. You know

you for betraying me like this.

    (turning to Mama)

As for you. This house is partly mine. You have come into my

Michelle: You know, I never thought Id envy you.

Yemisi: Envy me! Whats there to envy?

Michelle: Your singleness. I used to wonder how you could enjoy living

alone. Now, I wish Id never married.

Yemisi: You are wrong, you know. I dont enjoy living alone and I really

Michelle: But He hasnt sent another?

    Yemisi: He will.

Michelle: You are not at all bothered? . Not that you are missing any

thing.Theres nothing in marriage except heartache. All men

Yemisi: (Smiles) Thats why I want to be sure . It isnt that Im not

bothered. I get plenty bothered. My parents constantly

    Your contentment.

Yemisi: You dont have to. You know what to do. Ive told you timeand again.

Michelle: (to pastor) Good morning. Im Michelle Uzo. My friend, Yemisi

    booked the appointment.

Pastor: Yes, I know. Sit down, please.

    (Michelle sits)

Michelle: Well, its like this. Ive been married for five years. Im barren.

A few weeks ago, I found out that my husband got the girl

who came in to our home as his mothers maid pregnant. Im

extremely angry and hurt and Yemisi thought I should come to

    you for counseling.

Pastor: Im glad youve come Im really sorry about your pain

    but you are not barren.

Michelle: Oh, please. Im tired of hearing that. Lets call a spade, a

    spade.

  • 8/6/2019 Call me,me by Elizabeth Abraham

    65/83

Pastor: You need to understand something. . Only God can help

you out of all your troubles. And for that to happen, you need

    to agree with Him.

    Michelle: What does that mean?

Pastor: This is what it means. God works by His spoken word. He

made the world by His spoken word and has sustained it by His

word. Things work out in the lives of Gods children when they

uphold Gods word no matter what the situation says.

Michelle: Oh .. Okay. I think I get it.

Pastor: (looking at her) The question then is, are you Gods child?

Michelle: I should imagine so. Wasnt I created by God?

Pastor: Yes. But it doesnt end there. God created each of us with the

freedom to choose between good and bad, between Him and

Satan. You only become His when you make a deliberate

decision to hand over your life to God to control. Have you

    ever made such a decision?

Michelle: No. But I try to live a good life. I try to be good to others. Isnt

    that choosing good over evil?

Pastor: Yes. But God is so loving that He wont force His control over

your life unless you willingly ask Him to. Do you want to do

    that?

Michelle: Well Yemisi has been talking to me about it .. Let

me ask a question. If God is so loving, why is there so much

pain and misery even in the lives of those you call Gods

    children, like Yemisi?

    Pastor: Is Yemisi miserable?

  • 8/6/2019 Call me,me by Elizabeth Abraham

    66/83

Michelle: Well, no. But its not as if everything is fine in her life.

Pastor: Exactly. Not everything is fine in her life right now but she

knows they will be because Gods word says so. Thats why

    Yemisi is not miserable.

Michelle: So being Gods child does not exempt one from lifes troubles?

Pastor: No. As a matter of fact, Gods children face more challenges

than others because they stand for Gods ways. The world

does not like Gods ways. But God helps His own to overcome

    all things.

Michelle: At least, thats honest ..So ,if I give my life to God right

now, Ill get over this pain?

    Pastor: Thats a promise.

    (Silence)

Michelle: Okay, Ill do it. I think am ready now.

Pastor: First of all, you must acknowledge the fact that you are a

sinner and ask for Gods forgiveness. Do you agree with that?

Michelle: Yes. Nobody is perfect. I know Ive done some bad things.

Pastor: Good. What do you know about Jesus?

Michelle: I believe what the Bible says. I go to church, you know.

Pastor: I know, but this is about you; your personal belief.

Michelle: Okay. I believe that He is the Son of God, that He truly walked

the earth and died for the sins of the world. The Bible says

    theres eternal life through Jesus.

Pastor: Praise God. So, it shouldnt be hard for you to ask Him to be

    Lord of your life?

  • 8/6/2019 Call me,me by Elizabeth Abraham

Michelle: (shakes her head in no)

Pastor: Okay. Lets pray. Repeat this prayer: Father, I have sinned. I

ask through Jesus, Your son, that you forgive me. I hand over

my life to you and I thank You. Amen

    Michelle: (repeats prayer)

Pastor: You are a born-again child of God now.

    Michelle: Just like that?

Pastor: Just like that. You believe it, you confess it and then you begin

to live it based on Gods word, the Bible.

    Michelle: (nods)

Pastor: That means you must read your Bible every day. Its very

important to go to church also. Mix with other Christians

because that is your family in God.

    Michelle: (nods)

Pastor: About what has happened to you, the starting point to

overcoming the pain is forgiveness. In the book of Matthew

6:12. Jesus taught us to forgive others even as He forgives us.

Michelle: I know. Its just that its so hard. I cant go beyond the pain.

. The picture of him and the woman dances before me

always. Its like a knife has been thrust into me again and

    again and again.

Pastor: Im so sorry . God knows your pain. Hes waiting to heal

those wounds if only you are willing.

    Michelle: Willing to do what?

Pastor: To forgive. Im sorry to tell you that until you forgive those

who have wronged you, your life remains bitter. You lose out

on all Gods blessings in this life and all life after death..

    Think about it.

(Silence. Then Michelle starts to cry)

Michelle: (crying) oh, God, help me. (Still crying)

Michelle: I only have to be willing?

    Pastor: Yes.

Michelle: Okay ..I am. (Speaking with conviction)

Pastor: God bless you. (He begins to pray for her)

Father, please take the unforgiveness out of Your daughter and

give her Your peace in Jesus name. Amen.

Pastor: How do you feel now?

Michelle: (considering) Hmnn .kind of relieved.

Pastor: Yes. You are relieved. I am very happy and I know Jesus is.

Michelle: Thank you. Thank you very much.

Pastor: You must try to show your forgiveness in practical ways. Try to

be nice to those who have hurt you. Its difficult but

remember you are not doing it alone. The God of all powers is

in you and with you. You can do it.

Michelle: I believe you. I can do it. I shall do it.

Pastor: Good. Thats the first step. Your counseling is not over. Come

    back this time next week.

Michelle: (Smiling and getting up) I will. Thank you so much.

    Pastor: Thank God.

    Michelle: Next week.

Cat: The hurt is going away?

Michelle: Yes, but slowly. Every day the pains comes, I give it to Jesus

and thank Him for being my burden bearer. It works. I dont

    feel that all-consuming anger anymore.

Cat: Im glad. You had a good thing going and Im glad its coming

back. . I wish my mum and I had this kind of counseling

..(She lets out a long breath.) . All those wasted

    years.

Michelle: Still, you are okay now and making up for those years.

Cat: (Smiling) Mums amazing. Shes so sweet now and really loves

Chris. Who would have thought she had such goodness in her?

(Chris knocks at that moment. Cat opens the door.)

    Cat: Chris.

    Chris: Good afternoon, Mrs Uzo.

Michelle: Good afternoon, Chris. How are you?

    Chris: Good

Michelle: And Mama A? How is her garden?

Chris: Great. Everything is great for once. Mama A cant get over

your giving your boys quarter to us, all furnished too. She says

you are an angel and you shall have the first produce of her

    garden.

Michelle: (Laughing) Isnt that nice? Anyway, you guys are great, too.

Michelle: (Looking at Cat) I think I need to go in for awhile.

(She goes to the bedroom. Chris and Cat sit down)

Chris: Its cool that things are working out for them.

    Cat: And for us too.

    Chris: Yeah.

    Cat: What is it?

    Chris: What do you mean?

Cat: Just the way you said yeah, like you know you didnt

    quite mean it?

Chris: No, Im cool. Everything is cool..its just that .. well, Ivealways wondered if my parents ever loved me. My father, he

must have looked forward to having me, dont you think? I

mean before I came out and he saw my deformed person?

Cat: (Moves close to him and hold his hand) Oh, Chris

Chris: And mother, she definitely must have loved me, dont you

think so? She kept me for a whole year. Maybe she would

have kept me all through if she was able to.

Cat: I believe so. She dropped you where you had a chance, no

    matter how small, to live.

    Chris: (bitterly) Some life!

    Sec.: Good morning.

Michelle: Can I see the Pastor?

Sec.: Let me check with him.

Sec.: Your ten Oclock appointment is here Sir.

Pastor: Good morning. Please sit down. How are you today?

    Michelle: Much better, thank you.

Pastor: How are things between you and your husband?

    Michelle: Better.

Pastor: Are things back to normal?

Michelle: Some things.. Were eating together..talking some

..(Eyes downward) Im still sleeping on the living room couch.

Pastor: Let me ask you a question, if you were the one who had

offended, how would you feel to be treated the way you are

    treating your husband?

    Michelle: (shrugs)

Pastor: Your forgiveness toward your husband is not complete until

    you cross that bridge.

    Michelle: I know.

Pastor: Youve got to try. The Bible warns married people not toexpose themselves to temptation by withholding oneself from

ones spouse. You are creating a very dangerous situation for

    your marriage.

Michelle: Even when I didnt withhold myself, did he not mess up?

Pastor: Would you like it to happen again?

    Michelle: (doesnt answer)

Pastor: Deep inside you still love your husband otherwise you wont

    be here.

    Michelle: (nods)

Pastor: Your marriage can be sweet again. Jesus wants that for you.

But you must do your part. Give in to Gods word and God will

do the rest. Remember, you are not doing it alone.

Michelle: I will. Ill do it tonight.

Pastor: (Picking up a book) I want you to have this. Its a devotional. It

will help you in the study of the Bible.

Michelle: Thank you. Youve been so good to me.

Pastor: Thank God. Id like to see you a week from today alright?

Michelle: Yes. Thanks again. I really appreciate everything. (Gets up)

    Michelle: Bye.

    Pastor: Bye.

    Cat: Hmnn.

    (They keep cooking)

    Vera: So have you decided?

    Cat: What?

    Vera: Moving back home.

Cat: Mum Its the first time weve been this close I dont

want things to go bad again.

Vera: They wont. You know why? Because we know who we really

are. We are in touch with our real selves and our real selves

are not the monsters we projected.

    Cat: Well.I dont know

VERA: You dont want to move far from Chris?. You know, its not

very healthy that you two live in the same compound. A littledistance can make your relationship sweeter and besides,

Chris is welcome here anytime. You know that.

Cat: Its not just Chris. You know Michelle is going through a bad

    patch.

Vera: But you said things are improving.

Cat: Yes. But I feel I shouldnt leave just yet.

Vera: I understand. Michelle was there when you needed her.

Vera: But leaving her alone with her husband will push them closer,

    dont you see?

Cat: You are probably right. (thoughtfully) I think you are right.

Vera: (smiling) In that case, should I begin to tidy up your room?

    Cat: (smiling) I think so.

Vera: (hugging Cat) It will great this time. I promise.

    Cat: (nods and hugs back)

(Vera moves to check on the food. She tastes it.)

Vera: This is ready for us.

    Cat: Right. Im starving.

(They dish for themselves, carry the plates to the table and

    start to eat.)

Vera: So, Mama A is selling nuts now?

Cat: Hmnn.Chris says they are beginning to save money.

Vera: Im so glad for them. You wont know that they are not related

    to look at them.

Cat: Chris wants to take a course in information technology when

    hes save enough.

Vera: How wonderful! ..Will he let me help?

Cat: No, no, Mum. This is for his self-respect.

    Vera: Why, he needs help.

Cat: I know. Maybe if you offered it as a loan, but, dont do it

    until later.

    Vera: Agreed.

    Vera: (Waves the thanks off)

(They eat in silence for a while)

Vera: You know, this year has been my year for growing up.. in my

decision to respect my person, our relationship, knowing

people like the Uzos and Chris and Mama A. Especially Chris

    and Mama A.

Cat: I feel the same way.

Vera: It makes me want to ask people, who are you? Who are you,

really?..... I think of Chris and Mama A and all theyve been

through and what they are making of the first break theyve

had in life. Who would have thought that a beggar and a thief

would have such sterling qualities? ..On the other hand, I

can name a few some bodies, those people that society

respects because of their birth, or money or education or

position .. I can name a few who are really nothing but trash

because of what is inside them.

Cat: I know Mum. I agreed with you totally.

Pastors office. Michelle and Pastor are in counseling.

Michelle: This one just seems so big. Everything that is good sense says

not to do it. Yet, I feel this pull at my heart. What should I do?

Pastor: It would be a wonderful thing to do. That is if youll be able to

love the child as you own.

Michelle: Yes, thats my biggest problem .. I dont know why Im bar ..

(Raising her hand) You dont have to say it .Im not barren.

Still I dont know why my children havent come .. I

    wasnt promiscuous .

Mike was my first real boyfriend. Okay, we had pre-marital sex

but I never did abortion because I never got pregnant. Maybe

God is punishing me for the pre-marital sex? Is that it, Pastor?

Pastor: In truth, I dont know. I do know that God is not vindictive but

every sin carries a consequence. Its a spiritual law. But then, I

know people who were virgins till marriage whose blessings of

children were delayed. They held on to Gods word and God

    didnt fail them.

Michelle: So, you are positive that mine will come.

Pastor: Quite. Especially now that you are a child of God and seeking

    to please Him.

Michelle: Another thing bothering me about this thing is this: I sincerely

believe that Ive forgiven my mother-in-law and Mary. If I take

the child I would want it understood that the child is mine.

They can visit once in a while, not to stay. Just a little visit. Is

    that mean of me?

Pastor: No. You would be within your rights.

Michelle: So, you think I should go for it?

    Mike: (alarmed) What is it?

Michelle: (smiles) Relax. Everything is fine.

Mike: Right. (He sits beside her on the bed)

Michelle: I think I would have to adopt Marys baby.

Mike: (surprised, turns to face her) Michelle please, you dont have

to do that, Ive caused you enough pain.

Michelle: Its okay. I want to do it. The child is yours. I dont want him

or her growing up with the kind of insecurities that Catherine

had. Besides, whether I like it or not, the child will be there.

Its better to take her in as my own.

Mike: (unbelieving. He slips to his knees)

Mike: I dont deserve you, Michelle. Thank you, thank you, Michelle.

    I will never forget this.

Michelle: (pulling him up) All the thanks must go to Jesus. I would never

Michelle: They can come once in a while but not to stay.

Mike: I agree. Look Michelle. This house is all yours. I am all yours.
