The Anishinabek G7 FASD Conference Committee is proudly co-hosted by FASD Program Coordinators from NorthEastern Aboriginal Education Project (NEAP), Noojmowin Teg Health Centre, North Shore Tribal Council and Shkagamik-Kwe Health Access Centre. Together, our programs service over 43 communities and have collaborated with great success on a number of projects to advance FASD issues and initiatives. We are excited to be hosting our 6th Annual Conference this year and the theme is Heart Work Long Ours. Our conference is dedicated to supporting families, providing capacity building and FASD education. Our participants are generally frontline workers from the fields of health, education, social services and justice. We also have biological, extended, foster, adoptive and kin families in attendance. Participants mainly come from Northern Ontario but we also have those from across Canada, including the very north and a few from the United States. Everyone with an interest in FASD is welcome to attend! The Purpose of the conference is two-fold:1. To recognize and engage families as experts, supporting a forum for them to create understanding regarding the barriers they face and provide insight into the range of services that are most effective and needed.2. As we bridge the gap between families and service providers, we also plan to balance this with expert facilitators to share knowledge regarding professional approaches and best practices in action across the country. SUBMISSION DETAILSSubmissions to present at the conference should reflect the conference theme of Heart Work Long Ours We encourage all interested individuals and organizations to submit an abstract and be a part of this knowledge sharing experience. Submissions from a variety of perspectives are encouraged.

Preference will be given to:1. Workshops that demonstrate high-level interaction and share best practices/successful approaches to the conference theme of FASD.2. As our Conference supports First Nations communities, a balance of culturally-based workshops and western approaches to FASD will be offered.
