21st - 23rd November

Connaught-Ulster Regional Session

of the European Youth Parliament Ireland

EYP Ireland is delighted to open the call for our second Regional Session of the year, Connaught-Ulster 2014.

The CU Regional Session will be held between the 21st-23rd November in Galway City. It will be presided by Mr. Edward O’Carroll and will be head organised by Mr. Andrew Forde.

The session will gather approximately 100 delegates from the Connaught and Ulster regions to discuss is-sues linked to the theme of learning from our past, shaping our future. The three day session will include Teambuilding, Committee Work and General Assembly.

We are looking for 16 Chairpersons, 1-2 Editors, 10 Jour-nalists and 4 Jury Members. There is no participation fee for officials but travel costs will be at their own ex-pense. Officials are expected to arrive in Galway City before 12 noon on Friday 21st November and departures will be from 18:00 onwards on Sunday 23rd.

The application form, which can be found attached at the end of the call, should be submitted to [email protected] by Wednesday 15th October by 23:59 (GMT). The selection panel will be comprised of the Session President as well as a member of the National Com-mittee of EYP Ireland. All applicants will be informed individually on the outcome of their application.

Any questions regarding applications can be directed to [email protected].

We look forward to reading all your applications.

It gives me great pleasure and even greater excite-ment to officially open the call for the Connacht-Ul-ster regional session of the European Youth Parlia-ment Ireland 2014. The session will be held in the beautiful city of Galway, a must see for anyone who has never been, from 21st - 23rd of November. I would like to invite you to join myself and over 100 dele-gates to discuss topics close to our heart.

With this I would like to officially reveal the theme for the session ‘learning from our past, shaping our fu-ture’.

With the EU finally seeing a glimmer of hope in what has been a tough couple of years economically and the elections for those who represent us in Brussels still fresh in our minds, now is the best opportunity to look back and see where we have come from. It is a chance to see what we have done right and what hasn’t worked as planned.

This session’s aim is to find what has worked and what has not and use them to help us move forward. To learn from our past to help shape our future.

This session is in the perfect setting to have an en-joyable and productive weekend with soon to be friends for life. I plan on doing my utmost to ensure this and have a few little surprises up my sleeve to make this session one that is not to be missed. I can-not urge you enough to apply and I look forward to seeing you in Galway.

I cannot wait to read your application.
