Presentation Formats

App Chat—Learning lab on cutting-edge apps and technology 30-minute session 60-minute session

Deep Dive—Format providing in-depth discussion on a topic relevant to campus activities typically in a lecture format with some form of audience interaction, such as Q&A session throughout or after presentation, small-group discussions, audience polls, etc. 30-minute session 60-minute session 120-minute session

Flipped Webinar—20-minute pre-recorded webinar providing participants with information about a best practice or latest trend in some aspect of campus activities or student affairs that participants can view on demand, followed by a 60-minute, live, interactive discussion on how participants plan to implement the best practice on their respective campuses.

Give & Take—Format engaging participants in discussion about a particular tpic of common interest to participants 60-minute session

Light Bulb—Format providing participants with information about a best practice or latest trend in some aspect of campus activities or student affairs 20-minute session (National Convention only) 30-minute session

Master Class—Format providing information about how to develop a particular skill and interactive exercises that allow participants to practice or further develop the skill. 20-minute session (National Convention only) 30-minute session 60-minute session 120-minute session

PechaKucha—A simple presentation form, developed by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham, in which presenters show 20 images/slides, each lasting for 20 seconds, and talk along with those slides as the images advance automatically. 6-minute presentation

Poster—Format for sharing original research or assessment project through a visual display that will be accessible to National Convention delegates. (Note: This format requires a separate submission accessible on the Educational Session website.)

Symposium—Format featuring moderated discussion among a small group of subject-matter experts with facilitated audience Q&A 60-minute session

Webinar—Format providing in-depth discussion on a topic relevant to campus activities, typically in a lecture format with some form of audience interaction, such as live or text Q&A session throughout or after presentation, audience polls, etc.

Learning Levels

Introductory—Designed for those with limited exposure to or experience with the subject or those seeking to gain a better understanding of the subject’s foundation

Functional—Designed for those with some experience that they are seeking to build on, apply, or enhance or those who want to learn more about the subject’s practical applications

Advanced—Designed for those with substantial knowledge of the subject seeking to keep up with trends, technical details and high-impact practices to increase their level of expertise

Expert—Designed by skilled, trained, experienced presenters to engage seasoned professionals in idea sharing, problem solving, and strategy

General Guidelines for School Members To be eligible to submit a proposal, you must be a student

or staff member at an NACA® member institution and have a username and password to login to the website.

If you are from a member school and do not currently have a username and password, email [email protected] and someone will connect with you within 24 hours during normal business hours.

To submit a proposal for educational sessions and webi-nars, complete the submission form below.

Educational sessions will be reviewed by a selection com-mittee and all who submitted proposals will be notified at the end of the selection process.

If you are selected as a presenter, you will be required to complete the NACA® Education Presenter Contract, which will be sent to you via email.

For your convenience, NACA provides several PowerPoint template options and encourages you to use one. If you decide to use your own, please display the NACA® logo prominently on the title page and include the event, loca-tion and date.

Presenters must not use the education session to promote a particular product/service they provide. Instead, the fo-cus of the presentation should be on delivering important content that participants will be able to utilize in their re-spective roles at their schools/agencies. (See presenter contract for additional details.)

Associate members cannot showcase or be an alternate in any showcase category and present educational sessions marketed to school members, professional staff, and/or students during the same NACA® event. Upon notification of acceptance of both a showcase and educational session for an event, the presenter must choose the type of venue preferred and notify the NACA® office at [email protected] within 10 days of the announcement of showcase selection or educational acceptance, whichever comes later in the timeline. Associate members will be allowed to showcase and present educational sessions if the latter is designed and intended for associate members only.
