ICASO Board of Directors -- Call for Applications for Board position
Are you a woman living with HIV and want to influence AIDS and health policy around the
world?
Founded in 1991, the International Council of AIDS Service Organizations (ICASO) Mission is to
mobilize and support communities for an effective response to end the AIDS pandemic. Our
work is done within a Vision of an end to the AIDS pandemic through universal access to HIV
prevention, treatment, care and support within a human rights framework.
ICASO is currently guided by its Strategic Framework 2012 2016. ICASO operates globally,
regionally and locally, supporting community advocates. ICASO operates from its International
Secretariat in Canada and through its partners around the world.
For several years, the ICASO Board has been strengthened with two positions which are
dedicated to people living with HIV (PLHIV) as a way to guarantee that the perspectives and
voices of people living and affected by HIV are integral to all the work ICASO engages in.
Currently one of the two Board seats reserved for PLHIV is vacant. To ensure a balanced
representation the Board is specifically recruiting a woman living with HIV [WLHIV], with a
strong commitment to supporting the community response to HIV, human rights, and the
GIPA/MIPA Principle, who is connected to networks of PLHIV, and has an in-depth knowledge of
one or more of the following areas:- policy development and advocacy- community development- high level governance or management experienceWomen living with HIV who are also members of key populations networks/ organizations
(such as transgender, sex workers, women who use drugs, etc) are encouraged to apply.
Good communication skills in English are essential as this is the Boards working language,
including all documents. Most of the work is done by phone, email and through one or two in-
person meetings a year. These are unpaid appointments, but ICASO will reimburse expenses
related to in-person Board meeting(s).
