Everything moved along like a well oiled machine… From set up on December 21st through take down on December 30th, all 30 years of experience truly paid off. We have a dedicated group of members who stepped up and met the challenge of providing the public with an excellent exhibit of fine displays. We can be proud of what we accomplished. Of course, we had some standouts. Those members who provided thoughtful answers and clear explanations as docents, those who encouraged questions and offered enthusiastic support to those who were interested in becoming members, and those who were welcoming and helpful at each stage of the exhibition, were rewarded with what might have been our best exhibit at The Huntington. Everyone noted the synergism between the club exhibit and our collaboration with the AVSRC exhibits. The result was that of a much deeper experience than either would have had alone. We are fortunate to have such a valuable relationship. Another measure of our success is that we gained 20 new members. Welcome Jerry Swindall, Joris Gjata, David Barth, Kate Schumacher, Patti Giggans, Chris Jacobson, Soma Sahai-Srivastava, Bob and Connie Kuhn, Kelly Comras, Ronald Yamaguchi, Sean Campbell, Kary Kramer, Peter Beiersdorfer, Jaan Lepson, Jim Pelling, Taylor Lucas, Dal Nim Kim, Mara Fisher, and Paul Freeman. Collecting in the Yuha ~ Nov 2-3, 2019 24 seekers in 11 cars travelled into the desert. Thanks to our guides, Jack and Marty, everyone had a safe and productive tanseki. The pictures speak for themselves. Saturday it was Jack’s hunting sites and Sunday it was Marty’s, all excellent based on the found stones.

David’s T shirt reads: If sticks and stones break your bones, leave the sticks and take home the stones. The back reads like a rock band’s tour dates with 2 years of history of Aiseki Kai in the Yuha.

It looks like everyone wanted to go over “there”.

Uyen got stuck, briefly….

Lunch in the desert: Chili dogs compliments of Aaron and Jack. Yum!

After breakfast, Marty led us to a new location under some power lines. It was easy walking and most folks found keepers. Below: Marty and Phil and David share a few favorites. If you didn’t have all the fun, you just weren’t trying.

In The Mailbox

Tom Goldbaum, from Bethesda MD, sent these two pictures of his bison stone that he collected in Wyoming. In another view it becomes a rabbit. Sean Smith made both daiza. Bison: 4 x 3 x 1.5, Rabbit: 3 x 4 x 1.5

Chuck Barker sent this photo he took of a collecting spot he is taking advantage of in Namibia. Chuck tries to hunt stones wherever he goes and he goes to a lot of places! It looks like fun. We wonder what he found there.
