and his cloths became dazzling white” Luke 9:29Genesis 15:5-12, 17-18Philippians 3:17--4:1 or 3:20--4:1Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see your best friend transformed, or turned into his or her glorified self, right before your eyes? That’s the kind of experience Peter, James, and John have in today’s gospel. While they are up on a mountain with Jesus, they have a splendid vision of him in his glorified body. They see him talking with Moses and Elijah, two long-dead figures from the Old Testament. Moses represents the Law, while Elijah represents the prophets. In Jesus, both find the fulfillment of God’s plan of salvation. / Luke 9:28b-36

¿No sería maravilloso ver a nuestro mejor amigo transformado y glorificado ante nuestros ojos? Esta es la experiencia que vivieron Pedro, Santiago y Juan cuando subieron al monte con Jesús, como lo relata el evangelio de hoy. Ellos tuvieron una visión espléndida al ver el cuerpo de Jesús glorificado, hablando con Moisés y Elías, dos figuras del Antiguo Testamento que habían muerto mucho tiempo atrás. Moisés representaba a la ley y Elías a los profetas. En Jesús, ellos, encontraron el cumplimiento del plan de salvación prometido por Dios. /Lucas 9: 28b-36

HOLY WATER: Lent is our spiritual desert. As a reminder there will be no Holy Water in the bowls by the doors of the church. On Easter we will renew our Promise and will be sprinkled with Holy Water once again as a reminder of our Baptism. The holy water will be poured back into the bowls.

FASTING: Abstinence from meat is on all Fridays of Lent.

The Stations of the Cross / in English inside the church: During Lent, we are called to re-live the Passion and the Death of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and to reflect on His suffering for the sake of all of us. A great way to do this is through the Stations of the Cross, is a series of meditations and prayers for each stage of Christ’s Passion. Come join usevery Friday during Lent at 6:00 pm, except First Friday of April 5, exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

Does your child want to be an Altar Server? Have they done their first communion or are going to finish it by the end of May? We invite you to an orientation to be an Altar Server March 18th at Fr. Simon Center Bun-galow @7pm! (Parent must attend with child).

MIRACLE HOUR-A LENTEN DAY Retreat/Workshop: The English Small Faith Communities invite you to attend a retreat/workshop titled “Miracle Hour-A Lenten Day.” Miracle Hour is more than a prayer method, it is a healing journey.Life’s disappointments and people who have hurt us can linger for years. It’s hard to let go of the pain. We were made to be free from all these oppres-sions. The Lenten season reminds us that Jesus was sent to save us. Come find his miracle for you at this Retreat/Workshop Saturday, March 23rd at Santa Rosa Parish Hall from 9AM- 4:30PM (Doors open at 8:30AM). There is a $20 fee which will cover a continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, beverages, and materials. Agua Bendita: La Cuaresma es nuestro desierto espiritual. Como recorda-torio de esto, no habrá agua bendita en las pilitas de las puertas de la iglesia. En la Pascua, renovaremos nuestras promesas bautismales y seremos rociados con agua bendita para recordarnos de nuestro bautismo. Entonces, pondre-mos de nuevo el agua bendita en las pilitas.

Viacrucis en Español en la Iglesia: Durante la Cuaresma, estamos llamados a revivir la Pasión y Muerte de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo y a reflexionar sobre sus su-frimientos por el bien de todos nosotros. Una gran manera de hacerlo, es a través del Viacrucis, que es una serie de meditaciones y oraciones para cada etapa de la pasión de Cristo. Ven y únete con nosotros todos los viernes durante la Cuaresma a las 7:45 pm.

Mensaje del Papa Francisco para Cuaresma 2019 «La creación, expectante, está aguardando

la manifestación de los hijos de Dios» (Rm 8,19)Queridos hermanos y hermanas, la “Cuaresma” del Hijo de Dios fue un entrar en el desierto de la creación para hacer que volviese a ser aquel jardín de la comu-nión con Dios que era antes del pecado original (cf. Mc 1, 12-13; Is 51, 3). Que nuestra Cuaresma suponga recorrer ese mismo camino, para llevar también la esperanza de Cristo a la creación, que «será liberada de la esclavitud de la cor-rupción para entrar en la gloriosa libertad de los hijos de Dios» (Rm 8, 21). No dejemos transcurrir en vano este tiempo favorable. Pidamos a Dios que nos ayude a emprender un camino de verdadera conversión. Lenten Message of Pope Francis for 2019“For the creation waits with eager longing

for the revealing of the children of God” (Rm 8: 19)Dear brothers and sisters, the “Lenten” period of forty days spent by the Son of God in the desert of creation had the goal of making it once more that garden of com-munion with God that it was before original sin (cf. Mk 1:12-13; Is 51:3). May our Lent this year be a journey along that same path, bringing the hope of Christ also to creation, so that it may be “set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the glorious liberty of the children of God” (Rom 8:21). Let us not allow this season of grace to pass in vain! Let us ask God to help us set out on a path of true conver-sion. Let us leave behind our selfishness and self-absorption, and turn to Jesus’ Pasch. Let us stand beside our brothers and sisters in need, sharing our spiritual and material goods with them. In this way, by concretely welcoming Christ’s victory over sin and death into our lives, we will also radiate its transforming power to all of creation.Each year, through Mother Church, God “gives us this joyful season when we pre-paretocelebratethepaschalmysterywithmindandheartrenewed…aswerecallthe great events that gave us new life in Christ” (Preface of Lent I).
