Tuition and functional fees 2. Accommodation, feeding and stipend 3. Laptop, books and other learning materials, 4. Transport to and from home. 5. Medical insurance 6. Psychosocial support and mentoring of scholars 7. Capacity building program for life skills development in ICT, Communications, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy. Eligibility for the scholarship a) Both female and male students who are qualified for first year undergraduate admission to Makerere University b) Economically disadvantaged students from countries in Africa c) Academic excellence, with more points scored for students admitted for science disciplines d) A person with leadership experience or potential e) Demonstrate commitment to give back to the community A person who is admitted on the basis of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education results or its equivalent. The mission of the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at Makerere University:

Makerere University is in a partnership with The MasterCard Foundation to offer scholarships to 1,000 academically

bright but economically disadvantaged youth from Africa to study at Makerere University from 2013 to 2023. A project worth US $ 20,989,965 will be implemented at Makerere University with the aim of developing the next generation of African Leaders. The project is implemented by the Makerere University Gender Mainstreaming Directorate (GMD).
