The Orchestra
S ince its founding in 1961, the Southwest Florida Sym-phony Orchestra has developed
into one of the finest regional orches-tras in the country. It is Lee Coun-ty’s only professional orchestra.
Under the leadership of Music Di-rector Nir Kabaretti, the concert season includes 5 Masterworks and 3 Pops programs, a Holiday Pops con-cert, Small Stage Symphonysm perfor-mances, and a new Brave New Mu-sic series. The Orchestra also sup-ports an array of outstanding educational programs including the Youth Orchestra and ensembles, the Majors for Minors program that brings musicians to the schools, and annual Young People’s Concert performances for 5th graders.
Ticket sales contribute only about one-third of the orches-tra’s $1.5 million budget. The remainder is supported by donations from businesses, fundraising events, individual gifts from people who are passionate about music, and
The Symphony Society, a major sponsor of the Southwest Florida Symphony.
The Society
T he Southwest Florida Symphony Society is a vibrant volunteer organization that has promoted world-class
music in our community through its support of the South-west Florida Symphony Orchestra and its programs for nearly 50 years. The Society provides opportunities for entertainment and increased musical knowledge for its members and the entire community, while raising essential funds to support the Orchestra. Society members also pro-vide valuable assistance to the Orchestra in multiple ways, including office support, at concerts, and in hosting musi-cians from out of town. Through its scholarship and awards programs, the Symphony Society has awarded over $40,000 to aspiring young musicians in recent years.
Seasonal residents, as well as full-time residents, enjoy vari-ous social events throughout the year. From raffles to ele-gant galas, our fun equals fundraising while affording us the company of fellow music lovers.
