This beginner class has a low student/instructor ratio to allow for plenty of personal instruction. PFDs and helmets will be provided. The maxi-mum participant weight is 225 pounds. Saturday, September 5 Intro to Blacksmithing: Making Grilling Tools (16-Adult) Make a set of shish kabob skewers by heating and forging stainless steel into a set of tools. Approximately 45 minutes will be dedicated to forging skewers with the remaining time being used to finish and polish the steel. Students must supply themselves with natural-fiber gloves (such as leather or cotton), eye protection (prescription lenses or shatter proof safety glasses), as well as a face covering. Thursday, September 10 Rainbows, Haloes and Glories Webinar (6-Adult) This webinar covers common and un-common phenomena people can see in the day or night skies such as rainbows, haloes and glo-ries. We will cover sunrise and sunset phenome-na like the green flash, the purple light, and sim-ple questions like why the sky is blue and sunsets are orange. This course will teach people how to better appreciate the sky both day and night. This virtual program is hosted in an online Zoom meet-ing by staff and volunteers of the Analemma Soci-ety. Visit with several farm animals, feed them a bedtime snack, and read them a story. Be sure to dress for the weather. The tours run at 7 p.m. for a family group of up to nine people. Catch a Critter! (4-Adult) Grab a net and join us for a special day with a park scientist to see, touch, and study wetland creatures up close and personal.
