Caimen®-60

Providing a flexible asset for the rapid movement andamphibious delivery of vehicles, equipment and troopsfrom a host ship to the shore and vice versa, the Caimen®-60 offers a customisable solution foramphibious manoeuvre.

The Caimen®-60 is a deliberately robust, low complexityand affordable design that adopts the best of the proventechnology of current LCM designs alongside therevolutionary BMT tri-bow hullform. The Caimen®-60sits at the leading edge of the performance envelopefor a landing craft of its size.

Key features and benefits include:

• Simple design ensures a flexible and enduring capability;

• Strict attention to detail and structural continuity facilitates durability and robustness;

• Excellent damaged stability characteristics afforded through stringent watertight subdivision;

• Capable of transporting a wide range of payloads;

• Designed to interface with most well dock equipped ships, and can be tailored to be deployed via crane from ships without a well dock.

Design: Caimen®-60

PayloadsIn its current configuration the Caimen®-60 travels at 18 knots fully laden (carrying a 60 tonne battle tank). The Caimen®-60’s power and propulsion system can be tailored to deliver the right speed and range performance for the client’s operational need,ensuring the most cost effective and appropriate solution.The range of transportable payloads includes:

• 100 troops; or

• 1 x M60/Leopard tank or similar; or

• 2 x Viking all terrain vehicle; or

• 2 x UNIMOG; or

• 5 x Land Rover.

Human factorsThe BMT tri-bow hullform provides excellent seakeepingperformance, reducing crew and passenger fatigue.Dedicated seating is provided for 3 crew members, and aseparate enclosed seating area exists for vehicle crews.A modular weather-tight external seating module can alsobe fitted for high speed troop transportation.

SurvivabilityIn addition to withstanding extensive bottom raking damage,the Caimen®-60 can survive full depth damage to two adjacentcompartments. This offers excellent levels of survivabilitycompared to existing LCM designs. Furthermore, the triplepropulsion system configuration provides an inherentdegree of redundancy.

Caimen®-60 is a design from the BMT InSpira portfolio.
