Phyllida Barlow: Cul De Sac
Now until 10 Jun – Royal Academy of Arts
www.royalacademy.org.uk
Housed across three rooms, these new sculptures have one thing in
common: they’re massive! Jumbo-sized constructions that loom over
humans the same way chunks of ancient monuments in the British Museum
reduce everyone who walks past them to Borrower-size. Unlike the flawless
stonemasonry and marble of the RA’s Burlington House, Barlow creates her
art from solid concrete blocks, gnarled old wood, gloomy grey metal and
bumpy bits of gauze slathered in paint.
Lee Krasner: Living Colour
Now until 01 Sep – Barbican Centre
www.barbican.org.uk
As the title suggests, one reason for buying a ticket is to check out Krasner's
vivid, large-scale canvases that explode in fireworks of colour. But that’s not
all as you'll also be able to see her superb charcoal drawings and some early
self-portraits.
Leonardo da Vinci: A Life in DrawingNow until 13 Oct – The Queen's Gallery

will bring together more than 200 of the Renaissance master's greatest drawings
in the Royal Collection, forming the largest exhibition of his work in over 65
years. With the drawings having been grouped together since the artist’s death
in 1519, the collection will provide an unparalleled insight into the workings of
Leonardo's mind and reflect the full range of his interests, including painting,
sculpture, architecture, anatomy, engineering, cartography, geology and botany
