FOREWORDI am very pleased to write a foreword to the 2016 Encore Concert. Tonight we have over 300 young people performing a wide variety of music. Whether you’re a lover of classical or a fan of film scores, tonight we have something for everyone!

We return to the Cadogan Hall, London, for the third time. I’m sure all our performers will remember this very special evening at this prestigious venue for many years to come.

Tonight is a very special occasion, not only for the performers, but also for the Hillingdon Music Hub. What you see tonight represents the pinnacle of students’ musical success in the borough, but a pinnacle needs a strong foundation. Week by week, across the borough, our teachers, staff and partners are out in schools, running projects and lessons for beginners, patiently building up the skills you can see on display tonight.

None of this would be possible without the help of our funders Arts Council England, and our partners, the RAF and PRSSV, with more to be added in 2017.

If you’re a parent/guardian of a child at music school, you’ll know that this year is a moment of change as we bid a sad farewell to Uxbridge High School, our home for the next four years, and look forward to September, when we will be in a brand new location, shortly to be announced. Changes like this aren’t always easy, but please stick with us. Wherever we are, the important thing is that music always happens!

The Mayoress and I would like to thank you all for attending and supporting our young musicians tonight. We are sure you will have a very memorable evening.
