SOCIO-ECONOMIC SITUATION

• Cacadu District Municipality has a population within the range of

390,000 (Census, 2001) - 413,000 (Global Insight, 2008).

• Population concentrations are in Makana, Kouga and Ndlambe,

with more than 50% of residents in the District residing in these

Municipalities. The remaining Municipalities all have less than

50,000 inhabitants per Municipality.

• It is important to note that the low population densities do not

lessen the demand for social infrastructure establishment and

maintenance.

– Engagement with developers, most notably in terms of land use planning
