This will be my last message to you. The year has gone by quickly and our club has had several activities that many of you members have participated in. I hope you have had many new adventures and met many new friends. See articles elsewhere in this newsletter about the activities.
I am looking forward to seeing you in Gillette. If you haven’t reserved your spot for the breakfast/business meeting you may do so by sending the coupon in this newsletter and $5 per person to me or pay by June 27th at the signup table at International.
Some of you may not have heard that Hallie Holmes, our Treasurer, passed away suddenly in April. She will be greatly missed. We have also lost Martha (Marty) McCauslin, Dave Blum and Kenneth Davis. My condolences to their families.
I am challenging each of you to get one new member this year so our club can grow. There are some caravans being planned for the future and they will be published both in the newsletter and Blue Beret and on our web site when they are finalized. An ice cream social will be held at Gillette so check at the signup table and the bulletin board at International for time and location. I want to thank all the officers for a job well done! Please support your new officers next year! (See slate of officers submitted by the nominating committee in this newsletter).

2010 CAC CARAVAN IN LOUISIANA
Ode to a Caravan
“Let the Good Times Roll,” exclaimed Joyce and Lynn! And the Airstream trailers came pouring in.
Shining silver homes from far and wideGathered at Lake Arthur to enjoy the ride.
Fellowship, fun, and adventure for allOur CAC members would answer the call.
Forming a line one a%er the otherWe started down the road to see what we’d discover.
This was a ‘ten pounder’ as we Airstreamers sayCuz we enjoyed delicious eating all along the way.At every single stop there was food waiting there
Where a fabulous cook had a meal prepared.
Catfish, crawfish, crab meat, tooBoil the shrimp, fry the shrimp; any way will do.
Oysters on the half shell, Oh what a treatLouisiana cooking can’t be beat!
New adventures we shared for the next few daysTraveling along the Intercoastal waterways.Gators, waterfowl, and look—a Cypress tree
Rice fields, crawfish mounds, there is so much to see.
As we caravanned along with our CBs onLynn shared so much, and so did John
The history, the people, the landforms, the Chenier So much to remember; so glad to be here.
Hurricane destruction was a terrible sight,But the Cameron residents have taken up the fight.
Homes are being built stronger than beforeHoping that hurricanes will arrive no more!
We’ve had a great time thanks to Joyce and Lynn.Saw many new sights; made many new friends.
We’ll soon depart; our caravan must end,But we know we’ll meet on the road again.
by Pat Shaw(Iowa)
Thank You Lynn and JoyceThank you for showing us your side of Louisiana. We enjoyed every moment of it, the beautiful wilderness or the friendly small towns, rain or shine. The jambalaya, the bread pudding and the barbecue were fantastic as were all the meals we were served. You put a lot of work in the planning of this caravan and you were rewarded by a great attendance of participants from all over the country: Ben and Kay Corder, Larry and Ann Barclay, Lloyd and Susan Bruce, Larry and Lejune Perkins all from Missouri, Pat and Wendy Conway, Larry and Carol Strong from Florida, Jim and Rosalie Macumber, Dave and Pat Shaw from Iowa, Burnell and Evelyn Hitt, Jay and Ruth Johnson from Mississippi, Dale and Marilyn Bannon from Michigan, Ron and Karen Rush from Georgia, Selwyn and Florence Heese from Nebraska, John “JT” and Rosario Lester from Texas, Ray and Audrey Wagner from New York, Ed and Marie Efira from California and, last but not least, John and Yvette Landry from Louisiana who helped our leaders with their knowledge of the area.

Joyce’s Bread Pudding Joyce treated us with her favorite dessert the first day of the caravan and even after a good serving of Lynn’s Jambalaya, we couldn’t resist. “C’est bon!”
Mix first five ingredients together. Break bread into 2-inch pieces, place into liquid mixture and mix until all pieces of bread are coated.Pour into ungreased 9x13 oven-proof glass baking dish. Bake at 300º for about 45 minutes or until golden brown. You may have to bake longer. Your Pudding will rise and it needs to be level across pan to be fully cooked.
Stuffed Crab Casserole Delicious main dish prepared at the Rockefeller Refugeby Belva Broussard (Lynn Conner’s cousin)
CAJUN COOKING & MEMORIES
Sauce: Joyce uses a small box of Jello pudding (white chocolate), mixed with 2 cups half & half and 1 cup regular milk (the reason for using 3 cups liquid instead of 2 is to keep the pudding loose).
Ingredients 4 to 5 pounds crab meat3 cups rice1 small bag hash browns2 cups yellow onions chopped 1/4 Cup bell pepper chopped 1/2 Cup green onions chopped
1/2 Cup parsley chopped1 Cup cream of mushroom soup1 Cup Italian bread crumbs1/2 Stick butter or margarineSeasonning (the hotter the better)
Cook rice. Bake or fry hash brown (crumble after cook). In large bowl mix all the ingredients except bread crumbs. If mixture is dry, add water to mixture a little at a time (needs to be moist). Pour mixture evenly in a 13x9 pan. Pat evenly.Sprinkle thin even layer or bread crumbs on top.Bake at 350º for 45 minutes or until bread crumbs are golden brown.
Ingredients:1 qt milk2 or 3 cups sugar4 eggs slightly beaten
1/4 cup vanilla extract1 stick butter, melted1 loaf French bread (day old bread preferable)
Joyce’s secret: She likes to use mini croissants instead of bread. They taste buttery.

Feb 7-10, 2010
Three units left the Hobo Rally in Blythe, CA and traveled to the Deadhorse State Park in Cottonwood. Those attending were Dale and Marlyn Hofstetter from Jefferson City, MO, John and Yvette Landry from Kaplan, LA and Ben and Kay Corder from Lee’s Summit, MO. There were many interesting places to see such as: The “Ghost Town” of Jerome where we toured the old Dodge dealership museum, the Grand Hotel and the City Museum; in Camp Verde we visited the old Fort Verde and Montezuma Castle ruins ; in Sedona we visited the ruins and Chapel on the Rocks as well as viewing the red rocks!

CAC at FLORIDA STATE RALLYby Bettie Jones, CAC Past President
Wednesday February 17, 2010 4 P.M. found those Classic Airstream members with their hands full of covered dishes and looking for a familiar face- which they found quickly. As we all know the weather this year has been less than wonderful and we had the luxury of being inside the Potter Building complete with banquet tables and chairs - to enjoy our dinner.
Before we began our dinner we took the time to visit and introduce ourselves and give a little history about ourselves and the length of time we had belonged to the CAC. We were very fortunate to have some of the Charter members with us and learned of the history of the club from Bennie Woodall and his wife Jean. Bennie was one of the earlier Presidents. Each person told of the Caravans they had been on with the club and mention was made of the Caravan that would soon be starting in Lousiana with Lynn Conner- and we all wished we were there. There were several members present that have been active since the By Laws were enacted in McDavid, Fl in 2002 and amended in Springfield in 2005 and by Mail Ballot in 2006.
There are presently 82 charter Members and we were pleased to have 11 Charter Members present for this Florida event.
We all enjoyed our dinner and look forward to the Florida State Rally in 2011 and we'll do dinner again. For those of you that missed the Dinner Event- look for the information on the Bulletin Board or the Registration Area- we missed you.
Those present:Joan and Bill Bucher, Bettie and Jimmie Jones, Betty and Mike Ivy, Mary Potter, Bill Call, Julian and Lynne Clements, Arleigh and Joan Wells, Dick and Jane Arnold, Lamar and Becky Smith, Benny and Jean Woodall, Roger and Miriam Brandt, Jim Elliott, Jack and BJ Glouner, Kathleen Hedgepeth, Rich and BJ Kunkel and two prospective Members, Joe and Sue Smedley and Ann Jakobs.
