Cabri Geometry was initially designed at IMAG, a joint research laboratory of CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) and Joseph Fourier University in Grenoble, France. Jean-Marie LABORDE, Cabris spiritual father, started the project in 1985 in order to make it easier to teach and learn geometry (Adrian, 2004). Cabri II Plus is designed to provide the greatest level of interaction between users and the software.Jean-Marie Laborde and Max Marcadet, founders of Cabrilog

Cabri II Plus: is a dynamic geometry software program. offers everything you need for Euclidean, transformational, and coordinate geometry. use to construct any geometric object, including vectors, conics, ellipses and hyperbolas. use to construct equations of lines, circles, ellipses, loci, and coordinates of points. allow to manipulate figures, test construction and conjectures, measure, calculate, delete, modify, or undo previous actions. (Jill, 2006)

CABRI INTERFACE:

Unique Functions Of Cabri II Plus:Interface: New, larger, easy to read icons and have more intuitive pop-up menu and also able to change the attributes of any object in just a few clicks. Labels: Allow to label name all graphical objects and position labels anywhere around an object. Expressions: Can define expressions with one or more variables and evaluate them dynamically. Instantaneous graphs: Can easily draw and study graphs of one or more functions and direct manipulation allows to explore a functions results according to its parameters. Loci: Display loci of points or objects, loci of loci, and intersections with loci and display equations of algebraic curves drawn using the Locus tool.

Unique Functions Of Cabri II Plus:Text: Edit the style, font, and text attributes of individual characters. Smart lines: Only the useful portion of a line is displayed and can change the length of that portion. Colours: Choose objects and text colours as well as the area fill colour from the new extended colour palette, or use the new dynamic colour feature. Pictures (Bitmaps, JPEG, GIF): Attach any images to objects in the figure and the images will be updated during animations and as the figure is manipulated. Recording a session: Able to record a session and then display it onscreen. Import/Export figures: Figures can be transferred to and from computer to Cabri Junior on TI graphing calculators (TI-83 Plus and TI-84 Plus).

The title bar displays the file name of the figure.

The menu bar lets users manipulate documents, handle sessions and control the programs general appearance. The toolbar displays the tools can use to create and modify a figure. It consists of several toolboxes, each of which displays a tool from the toolbox as an icon on the bar. Single click on a button to choose the corresponding tool. Click and hold a button to open the toolbox as a drop-down menu. Drag on another tool to choose that tool; it is then displayed as the icon for the toolbox. The figure description window contains a text describing the figure. It lists all the constructed objects and construction methods used. To open this window, use the [Options] Show Figure Description command, and use [Options] Hide Figure Description to close it.

The attributes bar used to change the attributes of various objects.

The drawing area shows part of the total area that is available. The status bar always indicates the active tool. The help window provides outline help for the active tool. It displays the tools anticipated required objects and what will be constructed.

VARIOUS CURSORS

Using Cabri II PLUS in educational field :Can use for construct points, lines, triangles, polygons, circles, and other basic geometric objects Enables testing of hypotheses about geometric properties (based on Euclids postulates) Can do translation and rotation of geometric objects around geometric centres or specified points, plus reflection, symmetry, and inverse Provide Cartesian and polar coordinates Can easily constructed conics, including ellipses and hyperbolae Displays the equations of geometric objects Can do exploration of advanced concepts in projective and hyperbolic geometry Can do animation and figure annotation and measurement.

Features of Cabri II Plus:Student-friendly With just a few clicks of the mouse, students able to create geometric and numerical constructions including transformations, measurements, tables, graphic representations, expressions and equations. A smarter way to learn and experience mathematics Use to manipulate and animate construction and reshape objects. Abstract concepts become clear, and students get involved in mathematical thinking by exploring and making conjectures, reasoning and proving, problem-solving and self-evaluating.

Features of Cabri II Plus:Effective teaching approach Adapt the software to students' needs by creating and organizing tools, and tracking students' steps for problem solving. Elaborate or modify activities and prepare interactive course materials to be used online. Online assistant Contain videos on how to use the software and teach activities. The assistant also guides you in doing algebra, trigonometry, coordinate geometry and data exploration. (Jitka, 2010)

Advantages of Cabri II Plus:Visualization of concepts Students construct, explore their constructions, reflect and then deduce mathematical properties. Students can easily grasp concepts through observation, reflection and deduction. Interactive and dynamic Students explore mathematics in an active and interactive way. A geometrical figure or an equation on the Cabri screen becomes an object to manipulate. Time saved Technological tools facilitate the construction of figures in less time than using traditional construction techniques. Teachers and students can then take advantage of studying and learning mathematical properties. With Cabri, students solve problems posed by the teacher on their own, step-by-step. The software creates interest and stimulates reasoning.

Cabri useful for students:Construct 2-D and 3-D figures, from the simplest to the most complex, by combining fundamental geometric objects. Create expressions using fundamental algebraic concepts. Connect geometry and algebra by measuring length, angles, area and volume and then attaching numeric values directly to the figure to use them in calculations or in algebraic expressions. Explore a figure's properties by manipulating its variable elements. Observe the effects of dynamic transformations like shrinking and enlarging. Make conjectures about algebraic and geometric properties, and then verify relationships among various parts of a figure. (Fulvia, 2005)

Cabri useful for teachers:Create activities that facilitate the introduction and understanding of new concepts, promote the discovery of theorems and solve real-life situations. Generate classroom resources by inserting text or pictures in a figure, modifying graphical elements, copying/pasting into other software and producing high-quality printouts. Present activities to students. Expand online by integrating figures that can be manipulated on web pages. Have students solve problems directly linked to the NCTM standards with possible interdisciplinary connections to physics, geography and the arts. (Jean, 2010)

Cabri useful in mathematics:

Cabri useful in Measurement:Volume = width X length X height How to use scientific method to prove volume is directly proportional to height? What happen to the volume of cylindrical glass when we increase the height of water level?

Cabri useful in Measurement:When we increase the height of water level, we see an increase in volume, and vice verse.

Cabri useful in Measurement:What is the relationship between the volume and the height of the water level? Is this a concrete scientific method to prove to students?

Cabri useful in Measurement:Representing the volume on the line graph.

Cabri useful in Measurement:See the change on the line graph when manipulating the height of the water level.

Cabri useful in Measurement:See the change on the line graph when manipulating the height of the water level.

Cabri useful in Measurement:The Trace Tool enables students to see how a graphical representation can be associated with a proportionality matter.

Cabri useful in Measurement:Start drawing the relationship between the y-axis and the x-axis.

Cabri useful in Measurement:The outcome is a straight line, namely y-axis is proportional to x axis. In other word,.?

Cabri useful in Data Exploration:How to let student see visually the effect of frequency of a data on cumulative frequency? How does Cabri representing bar chart to line graph?Range? Frequency? Cumulative frequency?

Dragging the bar going up.

Cabri useful in Data Exploration:Drag the bar going down.

Cabri useful in Data Exploration:Representing the bar chart on line graph. Define the origin.

Cabri useful in Data Exploration:By clicking on the cumulative frequency, a point will be drawn on the line graph.

Cabri useful in Data Exploration:By clicking on the number, a point will be drawn on the line graph.

Cabri useful in Data Exploration:Connecting the points.
