7mm.»The Chicago Aurora and Elgin Railway is a common corrier. electrically

operated railway. serving the suburban territory west at Chicago. Illinois,

its rail line beginning at Des Plaines Avenue. Forest Park. Illinois. It extends

westerly to Wheaten. Illinois. with branch lines to the cities at Aurora.Illinois (Pop. 50.576), and Elgin. Illinois (Pop. 44.223). in the Fox River

Valley. The territory served is through test growing residential and indus-

trial property.

The C. A. 8: E. Ry. gives fast. frequent and dependable local andinterline corlead freight service. and is a connecting link between Easternand Western trunk line carriers having direct interchange connections with

major railroads at seven locations. A total 0t 40 diversified industries

are being served directly by the C. A, l 5., and a minimum of two switch—

ing moves to industries and interchange connections are made each clay.

It also serves the City of Chin-Ago through the medium of the various

switching carriers.

Fast and frequent passenger service is operated between all com-

munities along the rail line and to the City of Chicago. by direct connec-tion with Chicago Transit Authority trains at Forest Park. lllinois.

Tile total troclxage owned is 96.33 miles. which includes 77.27 miles of

main line tracks. Ccload freight town tracks are provided at I6 differentand convenient locations. having a total capacity of B7 ours.
