AT HOME IN THE WORLDChoosing the right accommodation for you is an important

part of the experience. That’s why we offer four distinct options for you to inte-grate with the local culture. From Homestays to Campuses, all accommodations reflect EF’s exacting standards for quality and comfort.

Page 13: CA ILSU 2014

EF Homestay Experience maximum cultural exchange by living in a private home with native speakers. You will gain insight into your host culture, pick up local slang with greater ease, and have a more authentic accent. You’ll enjoy breakfast and dinner with the family, as well as all meals on the weekend. EF host families live in typical residential neighbourhoods

throughout the city and are conve-niently located to public transpora-tion routes.

EF International Homeshare Benefit from all the features of a homestay while gaining more in-dependence. Homeshares are like mini-student residences, with 5-10 students living in a large home together with a local family.

EF Campus Delve into student life and live onsite, only a few minutes walk from your EF school. You’ll enjoy facilities such as a cafeteria, student lounge, Wi-Fi internet and more. Live-in residen-tial staff are always on-call. We offer EF Campuses in: Málaga and Playa Tamarindo

EF Residence Live in the heart of the city alongside EF students and benefit from an international exchange of cultures. You will have easy access to your EF course centre by public transport, and you’ll be well-placed to take advan-tage of the city’s culture, restau-rants, and sports. Residences vary by destination, but often offer WiFi, kitchen access, and more.

Gain more independence by liv-ing in an EF-selected apartment with easy access to your course centre via public transportation. You’ll have the choice of your own room, or one shared with a fellow student. Either way, you’ll get to know fellow EF classmates by sharing daily life with them –

shopping for food, making your own meals and keeping the place tidy. Many EF buildings boast on-site amenities like laundry rooms and pools.

Enjoy the comfort, convenience and privacy of a full-service hotel. EF schools offers conveniently located 2-star, 3-star and, in many cases, 4-star hotel options. Whichever you choose, you can expect a range of hotel ameni-ties, including on-site restaurants,

fitness facilities, laundry service—even swimming pools. Breakfast is often included, and you will arrange for other meals on your own.

Duration of Lessons: Language lessons are 40 minutes long, except where stated otherwise on the individual location pages of brochure.

iLabs:iLabs are currently available at all EF International Language Centres.

My EFTM web service:All EF students will automatically receive an online account for My EFTM, in which personal information about the student, such as the student’s name, e-mail address, gender and birth date will be saved. The student will be able to upload photos, share videos and links, join events, make comments and send messages to others after having signed in to use the web service. Any correspondence, photos and other media used on My EFTM will be considered private and EF will not accept any responsibility for such correspondence or media. Parent-/s or legal guardian-/s of students under the age of majority travelling with EF give their consent for the student to use the My EFTM web service.

Course levels: Prior to departure, students must take a level placement test online in EF’s MyEF iLab to assess their language proficiency. The results will be used to place them in the correct course level at their EF centre. When an EF International Language Centre has a General language lesson of five students or fewer, EF reserves the right to reduce the number of lessons per week.

Class schedules: In some Language Centres classes may take place at the weekends. Students will continue to have two consecu-tive days off. Classes are offered at all Language Centres worldwide in a block schedule format, where students will have alternating morning and afternoon classes.

Special Interest Classes (SPIN classes)Examples of SPIN classes vary from one EF Centre to another and are subject to change due to availability.

Exam class size: A minimum of 10 students is required for running an exam class.

Public Holidays: In the event of a Public Holiday in your host country, the Language Centre will be closed, unless otherwise stated in the student pre-departure information, sent to you with your booking confirmation. Classes missed for Public Holidays will not be made up at a later date.

Photography and film material: By accepting EFs terms and conditions, the participant ac-cepts that EF freely can use all photography, film and sound material that have been created by EF and or by EF’s staff dur-ing the trip, without asking further approval from the participant.

Cancellation ProtectionEF Cancellation Protection is charged at a one-time fee of $65 ($150 AY/MLY) at the time of booking and is non-refundable. This covers cancellations before departure due to illness, or illness in your immediate family. A doctor’s documentation is needed within 10 days of the claim.

Re-booking Fee: With each request to change course towns, course dates, or type of accommodation after your initial enrolment, EF will charge you a re-booking fee of $100 which is payable imme-diately. This does not apply to students who request a change when extending their course.

Travel and Medical Insurance Coverage: All students are required to have medical and accident insurance coverage. EF has negotiated and entered into a tailor-made travel insurance group coverage with the insurance provider Erika Insurance Ltd, under which EF Education First Ltd is the coverage holder. Students choosing to be beneficia-ries under the group coverage are given the following benefits: (i) protection against expenses incurred through accident or illness, (ii) coverage for loss or theft of baggage and personal effects, (iii) coverage against interruption of your EF program due to very serious illness and (iv) Liability and Legal coverage. The cost of this insurance coverage is $84 for the first two weeks, then $31 for each additional week. Contact your EF representative for Semester and Year prices. If you do not wish to become beneficiary under this coverage, you will need to provide us with a copy in English or French of the alternative insurance coverage you have taken out individually.

Cancellations and Refund Policy: All cancellations and terminations must be made in writing to your nearest EF office, EF local representative or EF Centre Director. In all cases the Enrolment Fee, the Courier Fee and the optional Cancellation Protection Fee are non-refundable.

EF may retain a maximum total of $500 for non-refundable charges, including the housing administration fee. Prorated refunds will be calculated on a weekly basis. When determining the number of weeks, EF will consider a partial week the same as if a whole week were completed, provided the student was present at least one day during the scheduled week.

Charges Other Than Tuition: Included in the course fee is a $400.00 housing administration fee, which is non-refundable. All extra costs, such as books, supplies, equipment, laboratory fees, rentals and any similar charges not included in the tuition must be clearly stated in the enrolment/application documents.
