C5-653systemhavebeendesignedformaximummountingversatility.Therearetwoprimarymethodsbywhichthetweeterscanbemountedinyourvehicle:

flush-mount:Fortweeterintegrationinaclean,unobtrusivemanner,youwillusethesuppliedflush-mountcups.ThiscompactmountingfixtureisinstalledusingthemethodillustratedinDiagramHandrequiresamountingholewithadiameterof1.50in.(38.1mm).

Atleast3/4-inch(19mm)ofclearanceisrequiredbehindthemountingsurfaceofthetweeterforthespringclipsand1.18-inchmachinescrewsusedinmountingthefixture.Itmaybenecessaryinsomelimiteddepthapplicationstocutdownthelengthofthemachinescrew,ortouseashorterscrew(notsupplied).Hand-tightenthemachinescrewuntilthefixtureissecure.

surface-mount:Inthisapplication,youwillnotneedtocutlargeholesinyourvehicle’spanelsforthetweeters.Youwillonlyneedtodrillaholeforthewiresandtwosmallerholesforthemountingscrews.Thisapplicationisusefulwhenmountingthetweeterstoapanelthathasinsufficientclearancebehinditforthetweeter’smagnetstructure.

Usingthefixtureasatemplate,markthescrewholelocationsandalocationinthecenterofthefixtureforthewirehole.Removethefixtureanddrillpilotholesforthescrewsanda3/32-inch(2.4mm)forthewires.Usethesupplied#6x1-inchsheetmetalscrewstosecurethefixtureasshowninDiagramI(hand-tighten).Runthetweeter’swiresthroughtheholeandinsertthetweeteruntilitsnapsintoplace.
