Dr. Jim Renihan is Professor of Historical Theology and Academic Dean of the Institute of Reformed Baptist Studies on the campus of Westminster Seminary, Escondido, CA. How we understand the covenants is how we understand the whole of God's redemptive plan in history. This course provides an introduction to a Reformed Baptist view of the covenants, comparing and contrasting it with other prominent view including: 1) Presbyterian Covenant Theology, 2) Theonomy, 3) Dispensationalism and 4) New Covenant Theology REQUIREMENTS READING Baptism of Disciples Alone by Fred Malone (Founders Press, 2007) Covenant Theology: A Baptist Distinctive edited by Earl Blackburn (Solid Ground Christian Books, 2012) Additional reading assignments / articles will be provided online. COURSE PARTICIPATION—The study guide for each session will include discussion questions over the reading and lecture(s). Please listen to the lectures and complete all the readings. If you are working through the course in a study group or with a mentor, print out a hard copy of your answers to the discussion questions so you are prepared to discuss the course content.
