THE MARK OF A BETTER DRIVING EXPERIENCE.

freightlinerchassis.com

When you own a luxury motorcoach that displays this emblem,

you know you’re getting the premium RV driving experience.

At Freightliner Custom Chassis, we developed UltraSteer as the first

line of tag axles that are fully-integrated and precision-tuned to

react to turns and other maneuvers of the coach.

When used with FCCC’s ZF IFS front suspension and compared to a competitor’s

chassis (on a fixed tag), UltraSteer delivers up to 17% reduction in curb-to-curb

turning radius— the tightest turns in the industry. And, because the rear tires

follow the ideal 12º turning path, UltraSteer eliminates costly “tire scrub” wear.

UltraSteer is available with a straight beam axle suspension (B Series),

or with independent suspension (I Series). In both cases, you can

be proud to drive a luxury RV that shares a heritage of engineering

excellence with Mercedes-Benz and the entire Daimler Family.

Look for the UltraSteer emblem on your next premium coach.

Sue and I sincerely hope that everyone is re-maining healthy and as happy as can be during these trying times. Nothing is more important than family, both immediate and extended. The unprecedented situation has resulted in numerous regional and chapter rallies being cancelled, at least through May.

For us, several trips have been impacted. A trip to Albuquerque, the western regional in Camp Verde, Arizona and in all likelihood our trip to Hawaii for our granddaughters high school graduation. Her senior trip and prom has been cancelled, and by the time you receive this issue, I suspect her graduation ceremony as well. We will just head there when things calm down. The future for us all is bright. The country will survive; our corporate partners will survive as will our vendors and friends.

You may have seen that FMCA has made a decision to cancel all events for the entire year. We have not and we currently aren’t under any pressure to do so.

This places an entirely new opportunity for our National Rally scheduled for November of 2020 in Marksville, La. As I write you, this event is still on and I’m optimistic that it’s being this far out from our current national situation, will al-low for us to move forward with our plans.Perhaps, those in the eastern part of our coun-try was wise in suggesting the National Rally be held in the late fall!

[ President’s Letter ]

So I would encourage you to register for our 2020 National Rally. We now have two reasons to celebrate; our 30th anniversary as an organi-zation and to celebrate our recovery as a nation. This will be a huge event providing us with an outlet to see each other and have the best of times.

Your registration is fully refundable should any circumstance nationally change.Stay healthy and please pray for our first responders, our service personnel and our country.

Respectfully,

Tony Ford, National President.

Well here we sit at home in a “shelter in place” mode. Who would have thought in our lifetime to be facing such a health scare? I would like to wish each and every one of you good health and be spared from this virus.

With that behind me, I am pleased to announce that the ACA Scholarship Board committee list-ed in alpha order; Charlie Adcock, Bob Carani, Bob Frank, Scott Kellett, Susan Rose and Jerry Scott have reviewed eleven applications for our 2020 scholarships. They have completed their reviews and ten scholarships will be awarded. The highest-ranking candidate will be honored with a $2000 scholarship and their name will be added to the Randall Hendricks plaque. Thank you to our committee who met our deadlines and were very careful and thoughtful in their reviews.

Here is the unique issue – when will these applicants have their graduation, will they be able to go onto their colleges of choice? Again, full circle back to the Corona Virus. We have submitted to REV Group’s Human Resources the names of the honorees and will await the decision when the presentation can be arranged. Bob Carani, immediate past ACA Scholarship Chair, has graciously agreed to create the certificates of scholarship, to get the selected individuals name on the plaque; and will be prepared when the date is known.

We have been notified that our Professional Liability insurance is scheduled for renewal in May 2020. I will be working with our ACA Board to approve the payment once we have the details on the premium. (Once again – the virus – the insurance company is not open to take calls at this time).

With all the news on the virus it is hard to stay focused on everyday life, but we must move forward. Please take care and hope we all can resume our travels very soon in our beautiful American coaches.

So not to be repetitive, please see my Vice Presidents article regarding the Scholarship news. During this time of the virus and being forced to stay home, so many of our travel plans had to be canceled or postponed. It is very sad but it is the right thing to do during this pandemic.

In the meantime, please stay home and be safe. Reach out to your family and friends and maybe get a home project or two completed.

We as the Scholarship Board, thank you as ACA members, for your continued support of this endeavor.

Greetings Southeast Members, what an unusual time this is for our world; facing a pandemic that has many of us on lockdown, self-quarantined and/or self-distancing. Hopefully, you are all staying healthy and following the advice of your local health authorities. Who would have thought that hand sanitizer and toilet paper would become such a valuable commodity?

Our Spring rally scheduled for St. Augustine FL was cancelled due to health concerns for our members. Our rally hosts John and Jill Schafer and Dick and Pat Lokar already had done lots of work on our behalf so when you see them be sure to thank them for their hard work on the “rally that never was”. We had to book St. Augustine two years in advance, but hopefully we can get back there again.

Our Fall rally is still on the books. It is scheduled for October 1 through 5, 2020 at Pine Mountain, GA. (PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN DATES FOR THIS RALLY.) Pine Mountain RV Resort is an hour south of Atlanta and about 30 minutes north of Columbus. There are many points of interest in the area. A few are: Callaway Gardens, Roosevelts’ Little White House, a National Civil War Naval Museum (entry fee), a National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center (donation) and a Wild Animal Safari just to mention a few. The little town of Pine Mountain is very quaint with small bou-tiques and some very nice restaurants. We stayed at the resort with our grandchildren over July 4th weekend and had a very nice time. The cost of the sites will depend on the number of attendees. Cost ranges from $50 to $65 per site. All sites are pull through. Currently Southeast has reserved 20 sites in the Corsican section which is very close to the Activity Center. An overall price for the rally has not yet been set and signup must occur online AND with the Pine Mountain RV Resort. (we need 15 mem-bers to reserve to be eligible for a discount; additionally, group members have 30 days to make a reservation with a 1-day deposit by June 1, 2020 (this date has been ex-tended from April 30 due to the Corona Virus concerns). Many members have asked for a rally outside of Florida so let’s make this a successful one. To date, two couples have volunteered to help with the rally but are unwill-ing to be lead hosts. If you are willing to host this rally you already have 4 helpers. Please let me know if you are

Southeast interested in hosting. Phone number for Pine Mountain RV Resort is 706-663-4329 or www.pinemountainrvre-sort.com and signup at www.southeastaca.net.

The Southeast Christmas rally is scheduled for Decem-ber 3 through 7, 2020 at Creekside RV Resort in Punta Gorda FL. This will be our second rally at this resort. Rally rates at Creekside have increased for 2020. Coaches will be asked to choose their own site (perimeter, water-side, premium). For those who did not attend the Fall rally there, this is a new resort located just a quarter mile east of I-75 at exit 161 in the charming waterside town of Punta Gorda. Punta Gorda rests on Charlotte Harbor and is a gateway to the Gulf of Mexico. It is the home of many great restaurants, a new military museum an amaz-ing muscle car museum and much more. Our hosts Jerry and Kay Venlett and Michael and Dorothy Strunk had planned to get together this week to work on events and pricing. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 had other ideas. Know that your hosts will get together as soon possible.

The Southeast will hold an “Eastern Rally” (we are awaiting approval by the ACA Board to designate this a “Regional rally”) January 6 through 17, 2021 at Lazydays and the Supershow. The first part of the rally will be held at Lazydays RV Campground January 6-12, 2021. This includes a gathering of alumni of what was the Happy Wanderers Chapter and the Southeast members. Those dates are January 6 though 9. Starting January 9, 2021, the traditional three nights at Lazydays will start. (We have reserved 65 sites at Lazydays). The last segment of the rally will be held at the Florida State Fairgrounds for the Florida Supershow and begin January 12 and ending January 17, 2021. To attend the January 6 – 12 part of the rally, call Lazydays RV Campground (800-905-6627 or 813-246-4777) to make your site reservations and any extra days should you plan to arrive early. Billing and refund policies have changed at Lazydays so be sure to ask about their new policies. The Florida Supershow part of the rally (January 12-17) is run by the Florida Recre-ational Vehicle Trade Association. Reservations must be made through the FRVTA. This process usually begins early October. Once this date is known, notice will be published and available at www.southeastaca.net.

We will join Disneyworld in its 50th Anniversary celebra-tion at Fort Wilderness, FL February 1-5, 2021. This rally is more casual than most to allow lots of time for

participants to attend the various parks and Disney activi-ties. There will be social hours in the morning and after-noon. Should you choose not to attend any of the theme parks, there is still much to do at Ft. Wilderness. Expect site costs to be about $130 per night. Reservations may be made by calling Hilda Neal (302-598-8892), tell her you are with the Southeast Chapter of ACA. We have reserved 20 sites January 31- through February 15 should folks want to come early and/or stay late. This has be-come a very popular event.

A Spring Rally at Florida Grande in Webster, FL is currently in the planning stages. Belinda and Terry Moorefield and Sandy and Peter Gallup are working out the details. Current thinking is the rally will start on the Sunday following Easter and be a 4-day rally. (Easter Sunday in 2021 is April 4). For those who attended this rally in 2019 you will remember it was a great rally and everyone had a wonderful time. Continue to monitor www.southeastaca.net for more details.

This year is the 30th Anniversary of the American Coach Association. The association is celebrating with a National Rally in Marksville, LA at the Paragon Casino Resort beginning November 1, 2020 for 5 nights. The ACA will have exclusive use of the RV Resort, which has 200 spaces. Chapters are assured they will be parked together should you feel you were not with your chap-ter at the last rally. Be sure to look for further details throughout the magazine and in the ACA President’s letter. Registration forms are online at www.myameri-cancoach.com or in the ACA magazine.

As always, the Southeast Chapter is open to members’ suggestions and recommendations on how to make our chapter more responsive to its’ members needs. Please contact me should you want to volunteer or offer suggestions or recommendations.

Please stay healthy ad God bless,

Dorothy Strunk, PresidentSoutheast Chapter

Hopefully by the time you are reading this we are through this epic period of time with confinement in our homes or motorhomes, as the case with many, hopefully with family safe and sound. I pray this is all a memory, and we’ve all gotten to where we “want” to be. As I write this I miss my family scattered around the country, although I don’t see my kids and grandkids often, we could always take off whenever and go to them. Not this time, so our family has started “Zoom time” most evenings for happy hour! Even this Grand-ma is learning new technology! We can talk all together, tell each other what exciting things went on during the day, how many trips we took to take the trash over, and since we are still in FL we take lots of golf cart rides and walks. We are actually spending more family time together!

March 4th was our annual NE picnic here at River Bend. We had a smaller group than last year, final count was around 46! Some new faces, and some that came and stayed for a few days to enjoy our resort and each other. Food was abundant, as always, followed by cake and desserts! Chapters represented were NE, Great Lakes, Mac Pack, SE, and Happy Wanderers. I’ve enclosed a few pictures of the great time we all had. I’ll get a date together for next year in the next few months, but always in March.

As you start your summer travels, please stay safe and keep your eyes open, you never know who you will run into.

Great Lakes

Greeting form the GLC. I pray that all the ACA families are doing well during this health crisis. We are praying that all this will be over with soon. You never realize how much you miss hugging family and friends until you can’t.

We hope everyone is staying safe and obeying the orders the federal government has issued along with those orders issued by everyone’s respective state governments.

It seems like as soon as my wife and I made reservations for our summer trips, they were being cancelled just as fast! Myself, Mike Wilson (VP), and the rally hosts Bob & Kathy Carani, and Scott & Susan Kellett, have made the decision to cancel the Great Lakes Chapter spring rally that was scheduled for May 6th – 10th, 2020, at Sunnybrook RV Resort in South Haven, Michigan, due to the stay-at-home-orders, social distancing guidelines, and group gathering restrictions. As of now, our Great Lakes Chapter summer rally at Hearthside Grove Lake Erie Motor Coach Resort in Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio is still scheduled for August 21st thru August 26th, 2020. So I am really looking forward to our 30th year anniver-sary rally in Marksville, LA.

Please keep me in your prayers, as I am still trucking delivering goods, trying to do my part to keep America moving.

I always thank God for allowing me to do what I love doing: traveling in the RV, with my family, my current friends, and making new friends. Safe travels to everyone, and treat everyone like you want to be treated.

‘Til the next time,Jerry Pickett, Jr Great Lakes Chapter (GLC)

We are certainly living through the most unusual crisis our world has ever seen. We had some wonderful rallies scheduled for our So Cal members for the Spring. We had the 7th Annual Regional Rally scheduled for Apr 1-6 at a new park near Sedona, AZ. This virus was just beginning and we were deciding whether to cancel the rally; the park decided to close, and the rally was post-poned. To when is the big question. The Ronald Regan Presidential Library rally that had been evacuated due to a fire, had been rescheduled and it had to be cancelled. As a result, there will be no more SoCal rallies. As of July1st, we will become part of the new Great West-ern Chapter. We will also have a new leader the new territory, Bob Clapper. At this time, John Carr will be a Vice President. We have an opening for a 2nd Vice President as the person voted on for this office has since resigned from ACA. Lots of things happening as we move into this new reality. The good thing is we all have time right now to work on getting everything in order. The new Great Western Chapter has a rally schedule for Sept in Utah. We are keeping this on the schedule for the time being, hoping we will be back to some type of ‘normal’ by then.

This pandemic is especially scary for those of us over 70. The statistics show that we are most likely not to recov-er if we contract it. Joe and I began self-quarantining the beginning of March since he was scheduled to have a very serious surgery Mar 31. Of course, the surgery has been postponed, but we have been told to continue in full quarantine until it can be performed. This time at home with quarantine restrictions has given us all time to reflect. As all thing’s we cannot understand, I believe God has plans that we are not privy to. It makes me think that he has been watching and said, “Wait a minute. What is this world coming to? Maybe we need a reset for everyone to take time to contemplate how they are living.” It is a time to reflect how we treat one another. What are our goals for the rest of our days?

Hello, to all South Central ACA Members, this is a hard one to write in these times right now.

First I’d like to address everyone’s health and well being. I hope and pray none of our members have contracted the ter-rible and deadly Corona Virus (covid-19) that has crippled our country for the past 2 months. The time spent in our “stay at home” self quarantine has been rough and has hope-fully flattened the bell curve on this pandemic the U.S is facing. It also gives us time to reflect on what is important in life; like family, friends, God and our country and not necessarily in that order.

Six weeks or six months from now we don’t know how dif-ferent things might be. Be smart and do the things the CDC recommends to keep us all safe and healthy. What happens on the other end of this world crisis and what we can learn from it will definitely be a game changer for all of us. I do believe we will defeat this virus and have a cure/ preventa-

South Central

tive vaccine within a year. Many brilliant minds around the world are working relentlessly to make this happen.

The National ACA Board, I believe, will be having some tough decisions to make in the near future in regards to how group events and gatherings will be handled and how state and local jurisdictional regulations might come into play. The future of rallies might change with “Social Distancing” practices that we all now know, and are becoming accus-tomed to. Group dinners and campfire chats/socials might have to be curtailed for awhile. The restaurant industry will change with seating arrangements to accommodate more space between guests or drive-thru and pick-up only res-taurants will become the norm. Social interaction has been changing rapidly over the past few years with the smart-phone, becoming to many of us, our sole means of commu-nicating. But to some of us, Emoji’s and abbreviated words don’t have the same effect or meaning as much as human interaction or a calming voice.

That’s just evolution, I guess. I look forward to rallies and human interaction in the future, and hope we can continue the RV lifestyles we are accustomed to and familiar with. I am writing this on the day our SCC Board is having a con-ference call and made the hard decision to cancel our Spring Rally in Kerrville in May. Our commitment to the VA Dogs of Texas to fund their next VA assist dog will still go to them in May, and at a future date we will celebrate with them this accomplishment.

Whatever the case is, we will adapt and figure it out. We have to look for the brighter things that can make a positive impact on everyone’s lives. Solutions to problems make us stronger in the long run. Stay informed, seek the facts and with God’s help be kind and compassionate to all human beings.

Todd BoormanPresidentSouth Central Chapter

How can we do more to help and to be more consider-ate of, and thoughtful to others? Let’s make this time productive with our thoughts.

Lastly, I want to give praise to all of the people who have chosen to put their health at risk to help those in need. To the nurses, doctors, pharmacists, paramed-ics, police, fire, grocery store workers, delivery people, custodians and janitors who clean and sanitize and all of the volunteers who have pitched in when our world is in need. GOD BLESS YOU!

Stay safe, healthy. Hopefully we will meet again down the road in a few months.Debbie DarbySoCal President

Hello from MacPack!! I’m hoping that by the time this letter is published we will be past the confinements of COVID-19 and able to be on the road again. Sarah and I were in Florida beginning in February and enjoyed our time at Grand Oaks RV Resort. We always look forward getting there and relaxing. Since it’s not too far from The Villages there’s always a lot to do! The resort is an equine/RV resort so you never know what you might see out the front windshield or your patio! This year they even had the Lipizzan horses preform!

We then moved on to the Motorcoach RV Resort in Port Saint Lucie along with Jeff and Annette Hatfield to visit with Bob and Melinda Ridge. It’s a beautiful resort and they certainly keep busy! Even went to a show with Johnny Cash before the virus spread and began to spoil our trip! We were going home via Charleston, but the event we planned to attend was can-celled so decided the best thing we could do was head home.We did get to tour the Seal Museum before leaving the area, and if you are in this area it’s definitely something to see. Very well done and informative! We also climbed 105 steps to the top of the Jupiter Inlet lighthouse-keeping fit!!

We now have 27 coaches signed up for our “Spring Back to TN” May 11-16, 2020 rally at the Ridge Outdoor Resort in Sevierville, TN., which is still scheduled as I write this let-ter. This is truly a beautiful resort. We’re looking forward to meeting several new members who plan to attend and catching up with current members. Marg and Dick Bender and An-nette and Jeff Hatfield have done a great job planning the rally. Some plans include a day trip to Gatlinburg and a show.

Plans are also underway for our fall rally at American Heritage RV Resort in Williamsburg, VA. Dates for the “Sons of the Revolution” rally are September 23 to 28, 2020, and reserva-tions can now be made. Annette and Jeff Hatfield are hosts for the rally and it should be a great time.Don’t forget to register for the Na-tional Rally at the Paragon Casino November 1-6, 2020.

I hope all are healthy and safe and hope to see you all soon as we travel this great country!!

Trim Sawtelle, President

Mac PackHello from Oregon, as I sit here, in late March, staring out the window watching it rain, again, a few things are going through my mind. First, and most important, is the safety and health of my ACA family and friends. We are living through some uncertain times, during which we all must make changes in the way we go about our everyday tasks. I mean, the constant hand washing is probably a good idea and I’m pretty sure we will see hand sanitizer as well, at group gatherings more often in the future. And how is this going to affect the huggers? We need to stay healthy and that might mean some per-sonal changes. And I’m going to go out on a limb here and say, most of us don’t like changes. “Social Distanc-ing” can be hard for a group like ours, but at this time it is very important. So, make the changes, stay healthy, let’s get this behind us!

The second thing going through my head is ACA Ral-lies! Foremost, is the Regional Rally at Verde Ranch, in Camp Verde, Arizona and all the work that went into the planning for it. A big thank you to Richard and Gail Hunter, Joe and Deb Darby and Jerry and Loretta Scott! Also, a big thank you to Bob and Becky Clapper for their efforts to bring everything together. Unfortu-nately, as I’m sure you know, this rally had to be post-poned. With that said, we have talked about reschedul-ing this rally for the Spring of 2021 (sometime AFTER Spring Training Baseball, I hope)! More on this rally to follow.

As of now, the High-Country Round-Up rally at Moun-tain Valley RV Resort in Heber City, Utah is still on the schedule. Hopefully, by September 13 th through 17th, we will be back to normal, so to speak. There is still work left to do on this rally and there is plenty of time to do it. The area offers some GREAT off-site activities; golfing, hiking and ATV & Jeep trails are some of the opportunities close by. And, of course, there are plenty of boutique type places to shop! Just keep in mind, there is only a total of 32 sites for this rally, and with 12

reservations already in the book, well, you do the math! The ACA National Rally, November 1st through 6th at Paragon Casino RV site, in Marksville, Louisiana, will be our 30th anniversary of American Coach Associa-tion. This is one NOT to miss! Make plans to celebrate with us! And you can still be home, or wherever you’re going, for Thanksgiving! And the third thing going through my head: “Does it always rain this much in the Spring in Southern Oregon???”

As Always, Safe TravelsJohn Carr

SouthwestMy name is Doug Anderson, Vice President of the Southwest Chapter, and I am writing this article amid multiple uncertainties, some of which are no doubt affecting most if not all of us. As I write this from our home in Colorado, the coach is parked, and we are for the most part, remaining in our house under a state-wide stay-at-home order designed to limit the spread of the Coronavirus within our community and state.

I was disappointed to learn recently of the resignation of both our Chapter’s President, Rich Hunter (who I am filling in for here), and our Secretary, Gail Hunter. On the behalf of our Chapter, our heartfelt thanks go out to Rich and Gail for their service, and we wish them well in their future travels and endeavors.

A number of us were looking forward to getting to-gether the first week of April with members from other Chapters at the planned Western Regional Rally in Camp Verde, AZ. We were disappointed that it had to be cancelled due to the Coronavirus crisis. Bob Clap-per had stepped in at the last minute and had done a marvelous job, as Wagon Master for the event. He had all of the details covered. Thanks to Bob for all of your work on this!

We had hoped to make further progress on our Chap-ter’s planned merger with the SoCal and NorCal/Norwest Chapters (to form the combined Western Regional Chapter) at the Camp Verde rally. Work is underway now on plans to implement the merger as soon as possible, even in this environment when ral-lies are not possible. More information on this will be provided as it becomes available.

As provided for in our Chapter’s Bylaws, in the absence of a President, I have appointed Sue Ford to serve as Secretary of our Chapter, along with her du-ties as Treasurer, until either we can have an election of new officers or the merger takes place, whichever occurs first. Many thanks to Sue for taking on this dual role under these circumstances. I will continue to do my best to carry out the duties of Chapter President, as Vice President, for the same time period.

We are currently seeking a Wagon Master for our Chapter’s next planned Rally in Heber City, UT in mid-September, and are hopeful that we can gar-ner the resources to still pull that Rally off. A lot of preliminary work has been done and a number of registrations have been received, but much work remains. After weeks or months of quarantine, what a relief and how much fun this would be! Please let me or Tony Ford know if you are willing to help us make this happen.

And finally, my wife, Kim, and I are looking forward to seeing a good many of you at the ACA 30th Year Anniversary National Rally in Louisiana in Novem-ber. The facility looks superb and the program prom-ises to be delightful. This will be yet another oppor-tunity to join with other our ACA friends to celebrate what we all hope will be, by then, a return to normal for all of us.

Stay safe,

Doug AndersonVice PresidentSouthwest Chapter

HIGH COUNTRY ROUND UP September 13-17, 2020

The Southwest Chapter is pleased to announce our first high mountain summer rally in many years. Our location will be the beautiful Mountain Valley RV Resort in Heber City, Utah. This is a great park that is always in high demand during the summer season. Since opening a few years back, the resort has completed a new second phase of the park for adult guests only. We have been able to reserve space in both parts of the resort, but we have only 32 sites.

Reservations must be made directly with the resort and any unclaimed sites will be released back into the general reservation pool after April 15, 2020. So act now, not later! If you have friends you wish to park with, call together to request sites, where available. The resort is always busy. Labor Day weekend 2020 is already sold out. Any extra days will be very limited, so again, call now to reserve your site!

Mountain Valley’s number is 1-855-901-6100, toll free.

Please visit their web page at https://mountainvalleyrv.com/

Please also check out their web site for a list of the numerous things to do in the valley and the greater Salt Lake City Area. With so much to do we are taking a slightly difference tack with meals. The additional rally registration fee will cover room rental for two evening get-togethers with some food provided. We also are planning one or two meals out. The goal is to keep things flexible so everyone can enjoy the area, leave early in the morning or sleep in, and just have fun.

For additional information for things to do, visit https://www.gohebervalley.com/

Technical Tips #114© By Rob Lowe

Replacing Exterior Rubber Strips: I receive many inquiries from older motorhome owners or those that have an orphaned coach in which parts are not available from the original RV manufacturer. These RVers are looking for a parts source for exterior rubber seals used on cargo bins, doors and slideouts. Often the ones on their coach are damaged, missing or have deteriorated over the years. Usually the caller relates the fact that they have contacted the RV maker (i.e. Fleetwood) if they are still in business or the new company, (REV Group), which makes the same RV brand as theirs, only to learn that the parts department does not have the original rubber moldings. What can they do? This question is even more important when the original RV maker is no longer in business. Many of these replacement rubber strips and moldings are ‘off the shelf’ ones supplied by a maker of just such parts as these. The RV makers do not make the rubber parts, they buy the ones needed in wholesale quantities and then use them in production, while also selling the individual pieces as needed. Later in this article will be some sources, besides your local RV dealer where you may be able to find these rubber parts. It is good to know that manufacturers make changes in the rubber moldings used and while the exact style used when the RV coach or trailer was produced is no longer available, a newer version will fit and work as well or even better. A recommendation from the molding maker is often better than trying to find the exact one used when the coach was built. Often these moldings are sold in cut to length sizes while others are in larger quantities so small lengths may require purchasing more than needed for the task at hand. The suppliers have excellent websites with the shapes and profiles of the rubber parts shown and then more detail with exact measurements so that you can match up what you have to the ones available. Some have a downloadable catalog and online chat. Often the seals are available in different “rubber” materials, so that may also feed into the selection you take. In addition, there are various areas on RVs where rubber protection grommets are used to protect wiring or other critical components from damage as the part goes through a frame member, wall or other structure. Careful review of these catalogs and websites can provide a source for these components as well. In Loving Memory

Larry M. McBee

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one. I’d like to leave a remembrance of smiles, laugher, giggles and fun times. Treasure your sweet moments and keep them with you every day, including the invisible ones that are found in your heart.

May 28, 1931 ~ December 5, 2019

“One life lived; many lives touched”.

Many of you have never met Larry & Jinna McBee, but I am sure you have heard their name! McBee! You see it in every magazine, in the RED square on the Membership page!

It’s with a heavy heart that I share the news of his passing on December, 5th of last year. He will be sorely missed. It has truly been a pleasure working with and getting to know the McBees through my work with ACA Membership.

Larry and Jinna have been making our nametags and swingers since the beginning of American Limited Association, yes, indeed, the Silver Blue and Red logo from 30 years ago! And continued making them for our American Coach Association members until late into the fall of 2019.

Jinna, told me that Larry had a wonderful time making the Honorary name tag and 48 National Rally swingers for Randy Hendricks retirement gift! It was the only name tag they ever made in brass!

According to Jinna, he was ALWAYS happy and friendly. He would sing and tell jokes around the house and office daily. He liked to stay busy and involved himself in many activities and com-munity organizations; Rotary, square dance calling & music, to name a few.

Even though we did not have the pleasure of sitting and visiting with Larry or shaking his hand, I think we can all agree, Larry McBee was quite a guy and we were very fortunate to have had him as part of our organization for so many years! Rest in Peace our friend!

• Soak limp lettuce leaves, celery and carrots in ice water for an hour. They will become crisper.

• Fill a scorched pan halfway with water and 50 grams of baking soda. Boil for 10 minutes and the burnt food will loosen and float to the top.

• Hard, refrigerated butter will soften in the microwave in 30 seconds on the defrost setting. But stand there and watch it - a few seconds too long, and you could have a runny mess.

• When dropping dough from a spoon into a pan, wet the spoon in milk and the dough will not stick to the spoon.

• Since the dirt rings in collars are oil stains, shampoo for oily hair will remove them. Rub it into the fabric before washing the garment.

• Remove ink spots from clothing by squeezing toothpaste on the spot. Scrub and rinse thoroughly.

• A thick paste made from baking soda and water will remove perspiration stains from clothing. It will also remove urine stains from car seats.

• Lemon juice and salt rubbed into a paste, will remove rust stains from clothing. It will also clean a wooden cutting board.

• Cotton dipped in alcohol will clean dirty photographs.

• Salad oil will remove tar from your feet.

• Keep old toothbrushes - they are extremely handy for cleaning around faucets and nooks and crannies other cleaning equipment cannot get into.

• Put candles in the freezer before using them. They will last much longer.

• Buy all your socks in the same color. That way you will never have the problem of not being able to find the mythical ‘other sock’.

SOUTHEAST CELEBRATES DISNEYWORLD’S 50TH ANNIVERSARYFORT WILDERNESS RESORTFEBRUARY 1 – 5, 2021https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/camsites-at-fort-wilderness-resortCelebrate Disneyworld’s 50th anniversary with a social hour on February 1, 2021. Our sites are blocked from January 31 until February 15, 2021. We have scheduled the rally during weekdays as the parks are more crowd-ed on weekends. Make your plans early, we have only 20 sites reserved. This is an ala carte gathering as meals and park admissions are not included. We will have our social hours in the morning and afternoon. Expect cost to be about $130 a night for your site. Reservations may be made by calling Hilda Neal (302-598-8892), tell her you are with the Southeast Chapter of ACA. If you do not want to visit the theme parks there is still plenty to do.

WHAT CHALLENGING TIMES we are living in. It kind like the world turned upside down or sideways or twisted, in ways we never imagined! Almost like we stepped into some strange movie that we can’t get out of. Grocery shopping reminds me of the Larry Norman song from the ‘60s, I Wish We’d All Been Ready. One of the lines from that song has stayed with me my entire life: “A piece of bread could buy a bag of gold”. Fortunately for us, the current situation is more supply & demand. Although, the scenario depicted in the song is different, we are experi-encing similar results. And toilet paper, what in the world is up with toilet paper! This current situation might be frightening, frustrating or stressful! Or maybe all of these and more! Who knew it could be so difficult, just to grocery shop! Who knows when travel, as we once knew it, will return? Who knows when hugs will be acceptable again! Who knows when “Social Distancing” will be a thing of the past, but right now, it’s the safe thing to do? We definitely need to take any & ALL precautions we can to protect others, ourselves & our loved ones. And, of course, always remember the words from another well-known song: “Take it to the Lord in prayer”.My prayer for everyone in our American Coach Family is peace, comfort and health.

Please join me in welcoming these 13 new member families that have joined ACA since the publication of our last magazine! Barry & Julie Willis, David & Bonnie O’Connell, Bob & Barbara Mueller, Thurl & Connie Boyd, Ken & Margaret Bujnoch, John & Laurie Connor, Bruce & Jean Haupt, Michael Poore, Alan & Marshalita Peterson, Jeff & Mary Jane Granger, Barry Corvard & Nancy Karnell, Rich & Nicole Belmore, Glenn & Debbie Lamb.

Until we meet at a rally soon! Dwayla
