COVID-19 Report: Monday October 26th 2020

Since last Friday, NET Health has received notice of the following COVID-related deaths within our 7-county jurisdiction:

68-year-old male resident of Winnsboro (Wood County) 80-year-old male resident of Eustace (Henderson County)86-year-old resident of Tyler (Smith County) 94-year-old resident of Tyler (Smith County)

The daily dashboards for each county within NET Health’s region of Disease Surveillance (Smith, Gregg, Wood, Rains, Van Zandt, Henderson, and Anderson) are available for download byvisiting the ‘Confirmed COVID-19 Cases’ link within the ‘News & Updates’ section of NETHealthCOVID19.org, and are also attached to this email.

7-Day Average of New COVID-19 Cases

Also included on the above-referenced website is the average number of new COVID cases (PCR-positive and Antigen-positive) from the previous 7 days, calculated in comparison to population rates of each county, and entitled the "7 Day Rolling Rate of COVID-19 Community Spread Risk Levels".

Please note that the calculations do not currently factor in potential cases of reinfections or inmate

positive cases, as they are in a closed population setting. The rate number for areas with prisons may be

potentially higher if there is undetected crossover spread between outbreaks in inmate/employee

populations to the employee/outside-of-prison interactions within the community.

East Texas Residents within Tyler Texas Hospitals

The COVID-19 dashboard for Smith County contains the daily updated statistic of East Texas citizens who are currently hospitalized within a medical facility in Tyler and are being treated for symptoms related to recent COVID-19 infection.

The below graph displays the trend line of COVID-19 hospitalization within Tyler hospitals serving East Texas residents with COVID-19 symptoms.

Free COVID-19 Testing Locations

NET Health does not have access to the analysis of testing results and are only notified when laboratories contact our Disease Surveillance Division receive confirmation of positive COVID-19 test results.

Free-to-the-public COVID-19 testing sites that are being administered by the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), who is providing the staff to administer these free COVID-19 testing opportunities throughout Texas. Click here for more info.

Anyone in East Texas can come to these COVID-19 testing locations, especially asymptomatic individuals. It is vital that anyone who get tested at either of these events provide a working cell phone number.

Antibody Testing / Antigen Testing

Antibody testing is not available at any of the above TDEM screening events.

Carter BloodCare and the Red Cross now test every donation for COVID-19, and the call for increased blood donation can now include the sell for potential donors to know that their donation will be automatically tested for antibodies of COVID-19.

Persons who acquired COVID-19 and are fully recovered are also encouraged to donate plasma at Carter BloodCare for convalescent use toward persons with hospitalized cases of COVID-19.
