The purpose of speaking and writing through pictures is to help veryyoung learners (Junior B level) develop their oral and written skills inEnglish through five picture-based stories. Each story consists of eightpictures. Once the tasks relating to the first four pictures have beencompleted, pupils should narrate the events of the story up to thatpoint. The same procedure is then followed for the remaining fourpictures. At this point, pupils should be encouraged to tell the entirestory in their own words.

Speaking and writing through pictures will help young learners gainthe confidence they need to both speak and write correctly in the vitalearly stages of learning English.

■ This booklet is recommended to be used towards the end of a JuniorB class.
