Dining Review of Cafe BerlinOn a warm spring night with a clear sky, the best view
on Capitol Hill is found just outside 322 Massachusetts
Ave. NE – the trellised and romantically lit patio of Café
Berlin. On each and every visit, I am reminded of the
traditional cuisine I wish I had grown up on.

COVER: Washington artist and graphic designer Carol Porter, has blended her watercolor painting skills with design to create the May cover, “Capitol Hill in Spring.” Her intention was to show the historical elements of the area surrounded by the power of light in natural beauty. Ms. Porter’s studies and travels abroad refl ect her love of color in watercolor painting. Formerly a page designer at The Washington Post, she art-directed the Real Estate section. So painting architectural detail of charming homes and buildings of exotic cultures is a favorite subject. She is available for non-commissioned and commissioned art work, especially for house portraiture. Portfolio available. For inquiries, please email: [email protected] and leave call back information.

Th e Life Force
By Dr. David Walls-Kaufman
Alright. Put away your, “Luke, I am your
father,” jokes. It is a perfectly rational
scientific argument to point out that what
makes you different from a manikin that
looks just like you is a Life Force.
And that Life Force is the ONLY organiza-
tional influence on your body. Proper diet,
exercise and oxygen are required building
blocks for your Life Force to keep you alive,
but they are not themselves organizing in-
fluences since they don’t make dead things
spring to life.
Any disease or injury is a disorganizing
influence on you. Cutting your finger. Car
crash. Cancer. Stress. The influence they
represent (stressors) goes head to head with
your internal organizational influence, and
if they win—they knock your body out of
functional balance.
That state of disorder lives on in your
nervous system, messing up the expres-
sion of the organizational influence. Your
body fights to defeat it, but new stressors
are stacking up, adding to the inside-out ex-
pression of disorganization inside you.
The strength of your Life Force becomes
weakened. You grow inferior tissues, kind
of like rot growing out of you. This inferior
stuff is what is attacked by cancer and mi-
crobes, etcetera.
It is the UNIQUE job of the chiropractor
to identify that compromise in your nervous
system and fix it, so that your body again
turns on its full power. Now your body can
fix your pains, allergies, BP, lowered immu-
nity, etc., and organize you to the highest
level of thriving, as it was designed to.
Only the chiropractor can do this. There
is no substitute.
