The Caribbean has served up world class sporting events in the past, but nothing like this. With an estimated World Cup TV audience pegged at two billion (with more exposure through broadband internet access) all eyes will be on Jamaica, St. Lucia, Barbados, Grenada and Guyana even before the first ball is bowled. Sixteen teams from four continents will participate. Jamaica is the host nation for opening ceremonies on March 11, 2007, at the new Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium near Falmouth where Warm-Up Matches will be played. Newly renovated Sabina Park in Kingston stadium will host six First Round Group matches during March 2007, including the opening match of the tournament with West Indies pitted against Pakistan on March 13.
