As we know, any time there is a change

in practice or in a strategic plan, it af-

fects not only the processes that are

used but also the people who have

been a significant member of that

which has gone before. As we move

into this new approach of having a

Finance Director for the School and

Parish, it impacts how the financial

affairs of the school and parish are

taken care of. We are probably un-

aware at this point of what changes

ought to take place. Regardless of what

we have yet to discover, we want to

make sure that we are attentive to

what has taken place.

Jeanie Strong has been our book-

keeper for the parish and school for

over 20 years. She has been instrumen-

tal in developing processes that al-

lowed us to maintain a viable and track

-able record of the incoming monies as

well as the outgoing monies. This has

not been easy over these past 20 years

since it often involved taking money

from Peter to pay Paul so that the bills

could be paid in a reasonable time

frame. But the time has come when we

felt we needed more than a book-

keeper to move us forward. We needed

someone who had a background in

financial planning to not only remove

some of the responsibility from the

Principal but also to plan ahead which

would allow us to be more viable and

sustainable for the future.

Jeanie Strong has given of herself over

these past 20 years for the good of the

parish and the school. We thank her for

her dedication and commitment to

keeping us

afloat during

some rather

treacherous

times. Those of

you who have

served on the

Administration Commission in the past

know some of these times, you can

appreciate what is being said, and can

also affirm the role that Ms. Strong

played in helping us through those

times.

We wish Jeanie well in her future as she

moves on to another field of employ-

ment. May God guide her and may God

guide us as we both walk into a new

approach of doing our ministry.

llevan a cabo. Probablemente en este

momento desconocemos cuáles son los

cambios que ocurrirán. Independiente-

realizar nuestro ministerio.

Padre Mark

!! Blood Pressures - will be taken on Thursdays from 10-12 in the Health Ministry Office at Sacred Heart Parish Center. There will not be a blood pres-sure Sunday in July. The office will be closed July 5 due to vacation/holiday. Foot Clinic will be held on July 16 from 8:30 till 2. Be sure to make an appointment with Dianne Withers 660-827-2311. June is Kids Safety Month Drownings are a leading cause of injury death for young children ages 1 to 14, and three children die every day as a result of drowning. Key Prevention Tips Learn life-saving skills. Everyone should know the basics of swimming (floating, moving through the water) and cardiopulmonary resus-citation (CPR). Fence it off. Install a four–sided isolation fence, with self–closing and self–latching gates, around backyard swimming pools. Make life jackets a must. Make sure kids wear life jackets in and around natural bodies of water, such as lakes or the ocean, even if they know how to swim. Life jackets can be used

in and around pools for weaker swim-mers too. Be on the look out. When kids are in or near water (including bathtubs), closely supervise them at all times. Because drowning happens quickly and quietly, adults watching kids in or near water should avoid distracting activities like playing cards, reading books, talking on the phone, and using alcohol or drugs.

You are invited!

Fr. Mike Volkmer will be celebrating

his 50th Anniversary of Ordination to

the Priesthood. You are invited to help

him celebrate at an Open House on

Sunday, July 8th from 2-5pm at St.

Mary’s Church Social Hall, 730 Benton

Ave. West, Albia, IA. Fr. Mike requests

to gifts please.

Attention Parents

There will be NO Children’s Liturgy at

the 10am Mass at Sacred Heart the

month of July. Our volunteers are

busy or out town. We need you! Cur-

rently we only have 5 volunteers for

Children’s Liturgy if you would be will-

ing to help, please contact Dianne at

the SH rectory office 827-2311 or di-

[email protected].

It simply involves taking the children

to the parish center, presenting the

readings from the Children Liturgy

book and doing an activity sheet with

them. This helps the children under-

stand the readings better. Please con-

sider helping.

Vocation Crucifix - future leaders of

our Church! Each week a family will receive the

vocation crucifix and pray the prayers

each day for vocations. They will re-

ceive the crucifix at the announce-

ments of the Sacred Heart Mass they

have attended. They are asked to pre-

sent it to another family the following

week or if they will be gone, they

bring the vocation crucifix to the of-

fice on Friday so that it can be pre-

sented to another family. The voca-

tion crucifix will move among our

families and among our three Masses

so everyone will be included in pray-

ing for the future leaders of our

Church. We hope all of our families

will take their turn in praying for voca-

tions from our parish community.

Please call the office to volunteer your

family. Thank you.
