TED started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds.
TEDTalks share what happens at TED with the world through their online website at www.ted.com

Millions of people now visit their website to listen to some of the most interesting people in the world talk about what is important to them.
Where are the TedTalks held, and who speaks at these things?
TEDTalks were originally held in California, but they are now held all around the world.
Some well-known speakers include:
Bill GatesAl GoreBill ClintonJane Goodall BonoJamie Oliver
What’s the point?
You can learn about almost anything you’re interested by looking through the TED website. They have a really great variety of speakers from almost every field, giving very interesting information.
TED has been called “YouTube for smart people”.
TED is also a social networking website, where people can get together and discuss interesting topics, write comments to the lectures, and even help to subtitle the lectures into other languages.
You can see TEDTalks translated into Chinese at: http://www.ted.com/translate/languages/zh-tw
