Council appointmentANDREW M. ELLIS recently accepted an appointment to Governor Napolitano’s African-American Advisory Council. The Council is made up

of community leaders from throughout the state and meets regularly with the governor to discuss and advise her on a range of issues as they relate to Ari-zona’s African-American community.

In printROB ROYAL’S article, “When Partners Split, Business Separation in Hard Times,” was the lead article pub-lished by the Arizona Society of Certified

Public Accountants in its August 2008 magazine to its members. In the article, Rob reviewed how accountants can be alerted to irreconcilable differences between business partners and assist in their separation.

RICHARD HIMELRICK’S article, “The Importance of Statutory Text: from Scienter to Nonstatu-tory Defenses under Arizona Securities Law,” has recently been accepted for

publication in the ASU Law Journal.

SHAHPAR SHAHPAR joins Tiffany & Bosco as a Share-holder in the Intellectual Property Department. For the last 10 years, Shahpar has been practicing intellectual property law including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, internet issues, licensing, due diligence in business transac-tions, and litigation.

Prior to law school, Shahpar was an electrical engineer at Motorola. Shahpar is experienced in both patent and

trademark law including registration and challenges before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and internationally as well as litigation.

Shahpar also has experience in copyright registrations, internet issues in-cluding domain name and cyber-squatting disputes, and related litigation.

A resident of Tempe, Arizona, Shahpar was born in San Francisco, California and speaks fluent Persian (Farsi). Shahpar earned her Bachelor of Science de-gree in Electrical Engineering in 1994 and her Juris Doctor in 1998, both from Arizona State University.

JIM O’SULLIVAN celebrates his 25th Year of law practice in Arizona by joining Tiffany & Bosco and establishing a Busi-ness Solutions\Mergers and Acquisitions Department for the firm.

Jim represents closely-held businesses, including law firms and other service professionals. Serving as general counsel and primary contact for businesses and their owners, Jim focuses on the ongoing legal needs of these clients, as

well as strategic planning for growth and ownership succession opportunities. Jim leverages his considerable planning, negotiation, and contract drafting experience to counsel clients through key events such as business formation, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and other agreements among business owners.

Jim’s experience in helping businesses and their owners, with their related fiduciary duties, resolve disputes enables him to serve as a litigation consultant for attorneys and their clients in mediation and other forms of dispute resolution.

Jim earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern California, and his Juris Doctor from Hastings College of the Law, University of California.

DUSTIN C. JONES joins Tiffany & Bosco as Shareholder and Head of the Zoning and Land Use Department.

Dustin’s representation includes working with developers, homebuilders and landowners in real estate development and entitlements and developing and implementing strategies for public and government relations and advocacy.

Dustin has been recognized as one of the Arizona Com-mercial Real Estate “1000 People to Know in Commercial

Real Estate”; West Valley 24 “Mover & Shaker”; The Business Journal “Forty Under 40”; Lawdragon “500 New Stars, New Worlds.”

An Arizona native, Dustin also speaks fluent Spanish. He remains active in the community as a member of WESTMARC and the Maricopa County Board of Adjustment. Dustin received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1996 and his J.D. in 1999, both from the University of Arizona.
