Don Bosco and his Educational SystemDon Bosco College, Byndihati (Meghalaya) is an extension of St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, belonging to Don Bosco Society, a global network of educational and multi-form services to humanity, especially young people. Don Bosco Society is born out of the educational vision of Don Bosco (1815-1888), popularly known as Friend and Teacher of the Young. In an attempt to educate the poor and disadvantaged youth of his time, he introduced a novel method of education based on the three great principles of Reason, Religion and Loving Kindness. Till date his educational philosophy has been instrumental in shaping up generations of intellectually competent, morally upright, socially committed and spiritually inspired young men and women. It is with this same vision in mind that the Society has initiated to set up Don Bosco College, Byndihati, beginning with its first Degree Courses this year, 2015. Like Don Bosco Institutions, world over, the College at Byndihati aims to respond to the needs of the region, by introducing courses relevant to the population it serves. While the management focuses on commitment, inspiration and leadership, with its diligent and careful selection of competent faculty members, the College aspires to be at the forefront of higher education in the region.

GENERAL INFORMATION

AdmissionThe admission process for the Bachelor Degree Courses 2015 commences immediately after the declaration of the results of the HSSLC Examination of the Meghalaya Board. • Admission is taken on a merit cum first come-first served basis after the applications are reviewed by a board set up

for the purpose with the Principal.• Rank holders in the HSSLC Examinations will be given priority in admission.• Outstanding sports persons who have made distinction at the State and National levels will be accorded special

consideration.• The management reserves the right to grant or deny admission.

General Fees StructureThe fees structure for the Under Graduate Programmes of study is outlined below. The Session Fees, University Fees and six months’ Tuition Fees are to be paid on admission along with the Admission Fees within the date given on the Admission Form. All fees and dues are to be paid at the College Administrative Office (Principal’s Office), after the Fee Book has been countersigned at the College Office. The fees are liable to be changed from time to time.

For the convenience of our students, we give below the fees payable with the due dates:

N.B. For the 2nd and 3rd year courses, the annual fee payable will be as in the first year, subtracting the components of Enrol-ment Fee, Registration Fee, Library Deposit, Caution Deposits (if any) and Identity Card Fee.

ATTENDANCE

GRADUATE PROGRAMMES

Attendance is compulsory. A student absenting himself/herself from one or more classes will lose the day’s attendance. Students having less than 75% attendance in a semester are liable to be debarred from Examinations. Any student who is absent for one month without due permission form the Principal will have his/her name removed from the College Register. Admission Fees will have to be paid anew if the student is allowed to join back.

The Graduate Degree courses are of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU). The duration of these Courses, is three years. The college holds its own Selection Tests at the end of each Semester to determine eligibility for the semester University Examinations.
