  • Traditional Afghan cuisine did not originate from Afghanistan itself. Instead, the food is inspired from the three major ethnic groups living in Afghanistan. The ethnic groups are the Pashtuns, Tajiks, and Uzbeks. ORIGIN

  • Kabuli Palaw is the most popular Afghan dish. It consists of steamed rice, raisins, and carrots, and often served with lamb. Other varieties of Pulao do exist in Afghanistan as well. KABULI PALAW

  • Kabobs come in all varieties across Afghanistan, but none are more popular than Lamb Kabobs. Kabobs can also come in chicken, ground beef, and ribs. Often served with a side of naan. LAMB KABOBS

  • Khameerbob is a incredibly popular, nartive Afghan dish. Only to be prepared for special occasions at home. Khameerbob is very often eaten in the form of a dumpling. KHAMEERBOB

  • Kofta is served is almost every middle eastern country, but mostly in Afghanistan. Kofta is a meatloaf or meatball type dish. In the simplest of forms, they consist of ground meat. AFGHAN KOFTA

  • Quroot is a traditional Afghan yogurt like cheese. Quroot is seen as a low calorie dish in its country of origin. Afghans believe Quroot is healthier than most foods due to it being sun dried, and yogurt based. QUROOT

  • Afghan Naan is a traditonal middle eastern bread. The bread is baked in a Tandoor. Naan is not cut into slices, but mostly torn up, and dipped into any food. AFGHAN NAAN

  • Dam pukht is not a food, however it is a Afghan cooking technique. This method is associated with the Awadh region of India and even more in Afghanistan. This method is cooking meats and vegetables over a low flame, usually in sealed containers. DAM PUKHT
