Madonna graduated from high school a semester early. She received a full dance scholarship from U of M. Madonna studied there for two years and then went off to New York to pursue her dance career. While in New York Madonna met her ex boyfriend Dan Gilroy who was in a band .The bands name was The Breakfast Club.

While still with Dan Gilroy, Madonna moved to France and became a showgirl. In 1980 Madonna moved back to the U.S. and joined his band. She

played the drums and later was lead singer.

In 1985 “Like a Virgin” hit number 1 on the bill board charts and went platinum within a month.

• Madonna married actor Sean Penn and co-starred with him in the movie Shanghai- Surprise.

“Like a Virgin” which is the video you watched early became a controversial subject about Madonna and her acting bad. There were rumors going around that Madonna and her husband had a violent relationship. They ended up getting a divorce. But out of all of this she became more popular than ever.

• By 1991 Madonna had 21 top ten hits, generating $1.2 billion. She then married Guy Ritchie in 2000 and adopted their son.

• She then wrote her 1st children’s book “The English roses” in 2003.

• Madonna was inducted into the inaugural UK Hall of fame in 2004.

• In 2008 she was named the world’s wealthiest female musician by Forbes magazine. Madonna’s estimated worth was more than $72 million in the last year alone.

• In 2009 she released a 3rd greatest hits album “Celebration.”

• She is currently planning another live album and new film project.
