About the BandBy The Rivers, a 6 Piece Brit Reggae band,

formed in the Spring of 2010 by Leicester friends since birth, Nile Barrow and Jordan Birtles. It was with a passion for the sound, culture and style of the music that they began to write songs with social comment, positive messages, as well as love songs and all things that affect the youth of today. The band write and record all the songs and arrangements themselves.

2010May 2010 saw their first full band gig in

Leicester and the response was amazing. Word spread around Leicester like a bush fire. 7 gigs in they had supported DAWN KINNARD, NEVILLE STAPLES, TOPLOADER and FUN LOVIN CRIMINALS (on 2 of their September 2010 tour dates at Norwich UEA and Cambridge The Junction) to more accolades and positive feedback. Physical copies of their first 5 track EP, simply entitled 'EP 1' were selling out at gigs, and the name was starting to spread.

2011 2011 saw the band releasing their 2nd EP entitled 'EP 2', as well

as supporting THE BUZZCOCKS, MAXI PRIEST, MUSICAL YOUTH, DAWN PENN, SAXON SOUND, NEVILLE STAPLE, JOHN HOLT & THE SPECIALS on their 15 Date UK Arena Tour in October. The year also saw the release of their Debut Single 'One Word' which reached No.21 in the iTunes Reggae Singles Charts, as well as receiving BBC Radio 6 Airplay on Lauren Laverne's & Huey Morgan's shows.

Their EP Package entitled 'EP1+EP2' reached No.2 in the iTunes Reggae Album Charts, coming 2nd to Bob Marley.The band have also played on the BBC Introducing Stage at T IN THE PARK, having their set videoed by the BBC and gaining BBC Radio 1 Airplay.

Acoustic sessions from Nile and Jordan have also been performed on BBC Radio Nottingham's visuals show 'The Beat' and also an A64 session on SB.TV.

20122012 was a busy year for BTR, with them being

in the studio in Jan/Feb recording their debut album. The band went on to release 2 singles 'Don't Say You Love Me' & 'Take Control', along with a music video. Take Control gained radio airplay on Craig Charle's show on BBC Radio 6, XFM, Amazing Radio & BBC Introducing. The year saw there first European shows, with them supporting THE SLACKERS on their European Tour, TARRUS RILEY in France, as well as playing festivals in Holland. The band had another busy summer, with them playing festivals all over the UK.

20132013 so far has seen the BTR tour Europe in

their own right, and release their eponymous debut album 'By The Rivers', with a sell out launch at Leicester's O2 Academy. Also performances at a string of major festivals including the BBC Introducing Stage at GLASTONBURY, BESTIVAL, SECRET GARDEN PARTY, GREEN MAN, LARMER TREE, KENDAL CALLING, as well as having supported MADNESS twice, JAMIE CULLUM, and having been played on David Rodigans show on BBC Radio 1Xtra.

2014Tipped as one of the ’5 future stars of the

Pyramid Stage’ by BBC Glastonbury, along side Bastille, Jessie Ware, The Strypes and The Foals. This band are making a stir in the British music scene, bringing British Reggae back in to the publics eye. 2014 is set to be a big year for this talented bunch.

The guys have also recently collaborated with Topman to produce a t-shirt which will be sold in local stores
