• Civil Engineers design and supervise the construction of roads, bridges, tunnels, buildings, airports, and other stuff that are needed in a city.
How much does it pay?
• According to a 2003 salary survey, people with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering started at $41,669 a year on average. People with a master's degree started at $47,245 a year. People with a Ph.D. started at $69,079 a year.

• In the career of civil engineering you get lots of vacation time when there is no work to be done. But you may be on the job for a long time if there is a building or tunnel being built.
