My Classroom Management Plan
By Swanee dePaula
“My Teaching Philosophy” I will teach my students to learn and think about
subject matters. I will use reading, discussion, and writing as ways to teach any discipline. I will give my students a lasting positive impression. I want to encourage curiosity, inquiry and investigation. I will assist my students to become confidence to read, to discover, and, ultimately to learn material they can use for their lifelong learning. I will be prepared and, I will teach my students to think critically. I will continue to learn different methodology throughout my career. I will listen and respect my students as well as their families. Finally, knowing how children think and learn, I will implement lessons utilizing the right methods according to children’s developmental stages.

“Understanding philosophical beliefs”
I believe children can be taught self-discipline then, they can discipline themselves.
I believe all students to be good. I see myself as an assertive teacher. I see my management role as being collaborative with students,
parents and other professionals. Students should have an input with rules and consequences. I want to manage my classroom, not discipline. I believe in rewards such as free homework day, line leader, etc. I believe in adhering classroom programs into my classroom
plan. Special education –parent group support, classroom volunteers,
and resources. Also Interpreters, Braille resources, wheel chair space and, appropriate equipment to learn.(universal design instruction)
Final Notes Consequences rather than
discipline.” Curwin and Mendler “Guidance rather than criticism.”
Ginott. “Speaking to students in a firm but
relaxed voice.” Jones Power Struggles “listening,
acknowledging, agreeing that there might be a truth to the story, and deferring.” Mendler
“Students have some responsibility on their behave and self-discipline but, it’s the teacher primarily responsibility for the learner’s behavior.” Kounin
