Cooking can be a very relaxing experience when you don‘t have to make so many decisions beforehand. What are we going to cook today? This is a very common question in nearly every household. Some people might love to cook but have difficulties in deciding what they want to eat. When energy runs low the choice gets even harder. Researching the eating habits of passionate people who cook on a daily basis might give ideas for solutions that can be easily integrated into life.

"()*+,-%%./0.*1")*!"#$%$&'2How can we improve the interaction and communication for daily commuters within big city traffic?

Our traffic will get more and more complicated with rising numbers of participants. Big cities, like Berlin are recognizing an increasing amount of bike traffic and with that an increasing accident rate. People that commute with their bike to their workplace, travelling from their home into the inner city will be confronted with more crowded roads and higher risks within traffic. Our challenge will take a look into interaction and communication between traffic participants and how we can improve these factors to prevent accidents and risks.

Berlin as a bicycle city is like Berlin as an everything else city. It's a bit rough around the edges, it could be much better, but people get on with it. The population would be better served with improvedconditions but until it comes they seem to realise that the bicycle makes sense. The cycling population is a mainstream population with few visible sub cultures and a healthygender split. A high city wide modal share is punctuated with neighbourhoods that exceed 20+% modal share. Cargo bikes abound in the city, a great indicator for growth. Berlin continues to tow the line with its place in the Index

Commuter

Commuting is periodically recurring travel between one‘s place of residence and place of work, or study, and in doing so exceed the boundary of their residential community. It sometimes refers to any regular or often repeated traveling between locations, even when not work-related. A distinction is also often made between commuters who commute daily or weekly between their residence to work place, and are therefore considered respectively local or long-distance commuters.

Ideas1. Something that allows you to stop (breath and calm down when an accident has happened. Like a White flag2. “Wake up your internal cyclist”.One action per day to improve the comuters relationships, (maybe a cards setwith a nice actions and you take one everyday, works for all commuters, cyclists, taxis etc)3. Create a brand that represent all commuters (or the transportation comunity) so all commuters realize they allare people.4. Create a brand that represent all commuters (or the transportation comunity) so all commuters realize they allare people. All commuters follow the same goals and share same values and respect to each other.

8. A divice with printed dots, you can put thousands of these in the bike lines only in the dangerous places. Becausethe dots have a different texture than the streets or bike lines the people will know by vibration that he/she is in a dangerous place.9. A place in the city where you can go and express your feelings whenever something good or bad happens. For example you can say you are totally upset with a taxi driver because did not let you cross. Then these videos areavailable to watch online or everywhere. This is to crate awarness of what happens in the streets.9. “Spides Jacket” Imagine that you are a cyclist and you are riding you bike, but a car just cross to the right anddid not tell you, then you feel upset, but instead of saying something you have a “Spide” that you throw to thestreet and paint the street. So whenever someones sees the pain in the street will know that something happened there.

6. There are good places to ride a bike and dangerous places. The idea is a a device that emits light (and or sound) whenever you are entering to a dangerous area. For example turns green in Moritzplatz but red in dangerous places. This device is connected to a map (googlemaps) that have those places that the people have reported.(Group knowledge) like waze.

5. “The network of good drivers” a plataform where you voluntarily sign up and become a member by acceptinga code of conduct. This comunity is for all commuters, taxi drivers, cyclists etc. The comunity grows with the time. This comunity of people will respect the rules and take care to eachother, does not matter what commuter you are.

Page 87: BY SEBASTIAN | NADJA | ANJALI | FLORIAN · 500,000 daily bike riders accounted for 18% of total tra!c in 2013.[1] 710 bicycles per 1000 residentsBerliners have access to 620 km (390

Ideas10. “Pills for angry” Imagine the packaging of chiclets, but this product contains pills that will help you to calm downwhenever you have a bad encounter with other commuters.

11. Publish the videos that show a bad or good encounter between commuters. Those videos are filmed by any commuters (with a go pro for example) in big screens (any screen) This is to create awareness of theeveryday behaviors.

12. Display in a big screen divided in two, facial expressions of commuters, example: a taxi driver and a pedestrian. In the end they both are humans.

13. Berlin has a lot of big bears around the city, this is an icon of the city. Imagine we create a symbol thatidentifes a good area or bad area. For example in Moritzplatz (safe place) this simbol is pretty and in hot areasthis symbol is not that pretty. This encourage people to behave better so the symbol is pretty. (Can be also with lights, green, white, red, etc)

14. There is a project somewhere to reduce the speed of cars, and instead of showing the speed in numbersthey show a smily face or a sad face. This way the speed is reduced in more than 80% compared with the speed shown in numbers.

15. “Spliting water challenge” is a campaign where all commuters have to carry water to point A to B and then comparethe results to see who splits more water. (To win you have to ride, drive, carefully)

16. All commuters belong to an “invisible” comunity (Citizens) and everyday there are a lot of interactions (good and bad)between commuters (taxi, cars, bike, pedestrians, etc). What if all the commuters have a way to tell the othersthat they have done a good or bad action? for example : (good action: a taxi letting pass a bike, a pedestrian realizehe or she is on the bike line and moves) (bad action: car turning right to find a parking stop without notice and closing the bike). Imagine that you are a cyclist and a car just close you, and you want to really make sure the driver knowshe did something wrong, so you take of from your jacket this device that you can easily put in the car with suction (suction cups), so you put this thing in the car and when the driver gets to the house sees this thing in the door and a short message that says “you close my way” (maybe he has more than one message, if more cyclist do the same)The idea is that everycommuter has something like that, for example a sticker (for pedestrians if a pedestrian wants to “tag”someone.

OTHER BIKES CARS TRAM TAXI PEDESTRIAN BUS

Everytime we use our bike we interact with other commuters. Sometimes they are other cyclists, cars, taxis, pedestrian, trams or taxis.

1) How often do you interact with other commut -ers? Please locate them in the circle.

2) How do you communicate with other commut -ers? How do you interact with each of them? Take a moment to think what are the conscious or unconscious ways you use to communicate.

3) All interactions are emotionally different, Please use the colors to describe what emotions you have with each commuter.

4) Draw a speech bubble to describe a story about an encounter with another commuter, it can be a good experience or a bad one.

5) Is there any other commuter, story, interaction or emotion you haven't written? Feel free to add your stories.

Example:
